Summary: Owned this for about 3 years and in that time: 1) about 25% of the DVDs that I've burned on my PC would not play on this. The rest would play fine. The DVDs would work on other players perfectly. Why? Don't know. 2) the loading tray can take as long 20 seconds to open. You push the button, and then just wait and wait and wait. Then it plays games with you because while you wait you start thinking that maybe you didn't push the button hard enough so you push it again.
Summary: Absolute junk. DO NOT BUY!!!! Okay, now that that is said, here's the breakdown. I needed a DVD recorder to put all the hours upon hours of VHS home movies I have (mostly the kids) onto DVD. Well, that IS what this is made for isn't it? I guess not, because no matter what you hook up to this, it triggers the anti-pirate code and screws up the picture horribly (black line down the center, all wiggly picture on each side of the black line.
(Samsung DVD-R130) ABSOLUTE GARBAGE!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS THING LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!

Summary: This is actually about the Samsung DVD-R130, which is, I believe, an "Upgrade" of the R-120 (and if THIS is an "upgrade", I SHUDDER to think how the UNUPGRADED unit must perform). I have had NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS with this unit. I hardly uses it the first year (had very few DVD's), but after a year, the unit started having 'seizures': when getting to the end of a DVD, the picture would 'pixelate', and eventually just 'freeze'.
Summary: Cutting to the chase, this is the worst consumer electronic product I have ever owned. It refuses to play even brand new dvds, randomly decides what it can and cannot play, and forget about recording -- it won't even consider it no matter what format disc you try to use. I have suffered through many months of it and -- when my new Sharp unit arrives, I will be smashing this piece of $%@# with a hammer to sooth my soul. Do not buy this junk!
Summary: I bought one of these about 18 months ago. I *think* the first coupla dubs I made were OK, but then I noticed audio and video were out of sync. I thought it was me for the longest time (I'll spare you why) until two weeks ago. Then I did tests that absolutely confirmed it was the product. At that point I did what I should have done a long time ago, which is check user reviews for "Samsung" and "out of sync." Lights up like a Christmas tree.
Summary: We have had this unit for a little over a year - and we have to spend over $100 to have it repaired for its "system error" It has always been a little quirky to use and now it is just useless. Off I go to purchase another and not a Samsung this time.
Summary: I have bought two of these. I first bought one for myself and loved it so much I purchased on for my church to record the services. This is an easy burner to use and has a lot of great features and gives a great quality product. A must buy!!
Summary: I've had this Samsung DVD recorder over a year and it's been nothing but trouble. The power button on the remote wouldn't work out of the box, it's SUPER SLOW in opening & closing and playback is below VCR quality. TERRIBLE BUY!
