Features

The Samsung DVD-1080P8 features a full HD Up-scaling DVD player. It offers to convert the resolution of ordinary DVDs to 1080p/1080i/720p high-definition which provides video and audio quality experience. The DVD player features DivX images which is shown via computer and displayed on the large-scale TV. The progressive scan output scans individual picture lines in sequence which maximizes the clarity of digital images and provides realism to DVD viewing experience. The HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) transfers hi-definition video and audio from HyperVision DVD player to TV, Home Theatre or other digital AV components while maintaining digital signal. In addition to this, connection to the DVD player to Home Theatre System is with a single HDMI cable for high quality pictures and sound. The Samsung DVD-1080P8 features 14-bit video DAV (digital-to-analog converter) and video processing which runs at 108 Mhz. It offers to produce up to 16384 color values compared to 1024 with 10-bit processing where this is said to provide extended dynamic contrast and detail with natural graduation between highlights and shadows. In addition to this, it is also said to boosts image resolution as close to the original VD source. The DVD player features MP3/WMA decoder. It offers child protection which allows the player’s controls to be fixed and not affected when a child touches the player’s controls.

The Samsung DVD-1080P8 features moving zoom. It offers Super scan playback with speeds from 2x, 8x, 32x and 128x. It features EZ view, instant replay and instant skip functions. The playback media is recommends media type which includes DVD, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, CD, CD-R and CD-RW. The playback formats for this DVD player features MP3, WMA, JPEG, MPEG-4 and DivX.   • Unit won't read any DVDs

    Just got the Samsung DVD-1080P8,but it will not read any of our pre-recorded DVDs, which are all standard store-bought stuff. The only solution they suggest in the manual is to check whether the DVDs and the unit are from the same region (Region 1, in this case), but that's not an issue here. Anyone else having this problem? Bob
