Excerpt: I am really quite impressed with this DVD player. It is uses up-converting technology that provides for a very vibrant and defined picture that looks really quite good regardless of whether I am watching a color program that takes place in a bright or a dark environment or even …
Summary: This is the last Samsung product I will ever buy. The RMA process was very slow.
Pros: Its light.
Cons: Its completely unreliable. First one kept locking up after about a month. Locking solid so you actually have to cycle the power. RMA process with Samsung was painful. Received a new player. After about 6 months it went south. Video playback is all garbled.
Pros: great product for the price. No it's not blue ray, but for under $100 bucks you get a superior upconverting DVD. I use this mostly for the kids DVDs, so I was really impressed when I put in finding nemo. can't go wrong.
Summary: It has every output you could possibly need on the back.
Pros: The AnyNet+ that Samsung uses via HDMI 1.3 CEC makes this average DVD player a champion. If you have a Samsung TV with HDMI and AnyNet you need to buy this DVD player. The automation with AnyNet makes it a magical DVD player.
Summary: The component cables that come with it aren't that great, definitely get another set.
Pros: Good picture on a 720p LCD projector, no problems upscaling as far as I can tell. I use component cables and toslink audio and the sound is crisp. Can read most DivX/Xvid discs I throw at it, although every so often it can read one or needs to be restarted.
Cons: None that I've encountered so far, besides that it won't upscale to 1080i easily. 720p is fine by me though, so if you're not shooting for 1080 I would recommend this player highly.
Summary: This ain't Neweggs fault, Samsung's quality control is not doing its job.
Pros: When it worked, had great picture and good response...everything advertised.
Cons: Had two of these. First one, the tray got stuck. Returned for a second unit which functioned for about 2 months before the hdmi output failed. The other outputs do work, but what's the point? I've had it too long to return so I've moved it to an older TV
Summary: I love Samsung, I have many things I own our made my them. But I would never reccomend this player to anyone based on the issues I had with it.
Pros: It was a nice looking sleek model.
Cons: The player would only play upto 720p even tho I have a 1080p HD TV. It also would only play newer DVD's. Anything that had been out on DVD for 5 years or more the player had issues playing it. Pauses, skips, distortion of picture and so on. Come to find out that this was the normal complaint for ...
Cons: *The picture was fine but flashed constantly and sometimes did not load the DVD at all. I got it with a Samsung TV, so i was unsure if it was the TV or the DVD player, or HDMI cable. I tested it on another tv with some cable and same result. Bad out of the box. but not neweggs bad
