The Samsung DVD 1080P7 is a single-disc, mainstream DVD player. Compared to other mainstream DVD players on the market, it is very inexpensive and worth buying. Considering its very inexpensive price, this DVD player comes with great features for the money. This DVD player is fitted with a progressive scanning feature, capable of delivering higher-quality video images to compatible televisions. Capable of playing multiple types of recordable and rewritable discs, this unit can handle more types of media that most DVD players. The Samsung DVD 1080P7 is relatively slim at a height of 1.8 in. It has multi-brand compatibility. Like most other DVD players, this unit features JPEG playback, which allows you to view digital photos (stored on a CD) on your television. The player is connected to the TV via an HDMI cable and produces an excellent picture. It has the option to upconvert to 720P, 1080i, and 1080P. With the player set at 1080P you can see a real difference; stunningly sound. It also plays. MP3 files, and it has its own on screen menu for both JPEG and MP3. You can set the player to run in a slideshow mode so you can have pictures playing in the background on your TV. The Samsung DVD 1080P7 is a mainstream DVD player, perfect for watching movies and or listening to music. Another plus point for this DVD is that its remote can control other A/V gear. The negative points are its display which displays the cumulative time, and not the current track that is playing. And no HDMI cable, no USB Input which even cheaper models, such as Phillips has. Nevertheless this DVD player is definitely worth the money. If you are looking for a DVD player to provide you with upconversion and not expensive, then this is what you need.

This is an ok, very low cost HDMI player. I'd give it higher points but it's error correction is not that great. So if you like to use Netflix be prepared to clean 75% of your DVD's before you even put them in the player. Read more

It worked for a few days after I bought it. Then it just quit. I called Samsung and they suggested a procedure to reboot it. Still didn't work. I called back and asked for a replacement. They said they would only repair it if I shipped to them at my cost. I told them I bought a new model not a refurbished piece of junk. Tommorrow it goes back to the dealer. Read more

A continual fan of Samsung, with mobile phone, laptop, and TV already in our household, we bought this DVD player following another upscaler that gave up after just a few weeks. And we're pleased as punch that we ended up with this one. Great picture, good sound quality, easy to use, and looks sleek and sophisticated, matching my Samsung LCD television. From kids cartoons to action packed adventure movies, this DVD player gives me a really great, sharp, quality picture.... Read more

  4. BETTER THAN THE NEWER p8 AND p9 models.

This model has more flexibility, loads faster and has a sharper picture than either of the P8 or P9 models. I sold one of each which I bought to upgrade and kept this one. Now a blue-ray gift has caused me to sell my old standby which never had a glitch in the remote, nor a skip, nor a hang-up. Wish I could say the same for the two later models and their unhandy, unresponsive remotes. Read more
