Excerpt: Getting the RCA vcr/dvd recorder combo unit repaired is a nightmare. Local repair guys would not touch it. Once shipped off to Albany, NY it is re-routed to a repair company in Canada. Customer service calls are re-routed to India. I know because I went through the process. I shipped my equipment off in February '08. After numerous calls, I was told in May that it was beyond repair. A few weeks later, I received my same machine in the mail.
Excerpt: I read alot of bad things about this vcr/dvd recorder combo. But after seeing the extra plug-in on the front if it, to plur in my camcorder and the built in turner,,, I was sold.. I went to wal-mart and bought one.. I figured if it was bad, I could take it back.. Guess what ? It was. NO sound on the vcr side.. So I took it back and got a second one.. WOW .. I'm glad I gave it that second chance.. Because it is everything I wanted and more..
Excerpt: Recieved this unit as a gift a couple of years ago, and have had no problems with it. Installation was simple, the unit is compact and sleek, and our family can still watch our old favorite VHS tapes anytime. This unit saves the cost of seperate DVD and VHS players, and takes up half the space it used to require to view our library of films. I hesitated in giving this unit a full five stars simply because I haven't had to pay for any cost of repairs, and reading other...
RCA DRC8335 DVD Recorder/VCR Combo not worth the money.
9 September 2012
Excerpt: This VCR/DVD recorder was purchased about 1 1/2 years ago for the sole purpose of copying old VCR tapes to DVD. After it was purchased, I began working full time and did not have the time to do this. The machine was only used occasionally to watch a video tape or DVD. Two weeks before the warranty was up, a video tape was inserted and would not play or eject. I called the company and, since it was still within the 1 year warranty period, was told to return the...
Excerpt: This DVD RECORDER plus VHS combo. Was garbage. Got one off ebay. Needed one to replace DRC8052N witch was really nice it lasted 3years. The other RCA DVD RECORDER with VHS combo it didn't last a whole YEAR. I looked nice and for low price. If I read the other reviews I would have even bought this one! It ate 10 of my nice VCR tapes. Wouldn't finalize the disc correctly. I will never buy from RCA/Thomas INC. EVER AGAIN.
Summary: This unit is very easy to set up in no time at all. A quick look thru the users manual, to figure out the controls and setup the channels and your ready to go! Recording tapes and DVDs where a breeze. The picture and sound is good. Overall I found that this is a good machine for the price.
Summary: This unit is a piece of junk. I am on my second unit as well from a warranty. Now, going to Audiovox, they won't even help me with any further problems and it is still under warranty. This unit was a waste of my time and money. It wasn't cheap, either.
Cons: Confusing Set Up, Discs Load Slowly, Poor Chapter Publishing
Summary: I'm on my SECOND warranty replacement. This unit is a piece of junk. Keeps freezing up when trying to record or finalize a disc. RCA/Thomson refused to refund money or provide another model.DON'T BUY IT!
