Summary: I would recommend this DVD player to anyone who has lots of DIVX, .AVI, .MPG files on cd's or dvd's & wants to watch them on the TV without a PC. THIS DVD Plays em all.
Pros: Plays DVD-R, DIVX files, S-VCD & VCD files, MP3, WMA, put in a cd or DVD full of .JPG's, and it shows em, even has a slideshow feature, has Memory stick port. HDMI works good. TVGaurdian works as expected.
Cons: Not really a CON, but The TV Gaurdian Close captions do NOT display while using the HDMI output, it DOES however mute the Audio even when listening through the Dolby Digital 5.1 Coax output. PLAYER does NOT support DTS. :(
Summary: When used to play CDs, you can only advance tracks with the remote - buttons on unit only start, stop, eject. I haven't tried TV Guardian yet.
Pros: includes 5 ft HDMI cable; upconvert looks good (much better than a progressive scan picture); inexpensive
Cons: Memory card reader only shows 7 characters. That means my Canon photos, labelled as IMG_0001, IMG_0002, etc, show up on screen as IMG_000 and IMG_000. Also, unit would recognize a 512MB SD card, but not a 2G SD card. I don't have a 1G card, so I'm not sure where the breakpoint is. Also will not s...
Summary: I did not have any of the problems with captioning that the other reviewer mentioned. Overall, the player works well so far. It turns on and starts playing quickly (unlike a Sony player I bought and retruned last month).
Cons: The HD upscaling does work all that well (although this may be the technology more than this player). TV Guardian is not perfect. It tends to mute the entire phrase rather than just the explative.
Summary: I paid $xx for this system, and would not recommend anyone to purchase it.
Pros: Played movies.
Cons: The TV Guardian feature would not work properly with my TV. It would appropriately mute the foul language, but it would not display the corrected caption. I called tech support, and after three very simple emails, the problem was not solved. Another problem was that when you use the remote to fas...
