Summary: My wife purchase this unit as part of a surround sound system. Only worked about 6-7 times before it wouldn't come on. The unit has may features but if it doesn't work not worth anything. I will be looking for another brand of player. Will not purchase a replacement of the same brand and model.
Summary: I purchased this in 3/07, used it about 10-12 times (it still looks new,) but it just stopped working while playing a DVD. No power at all. The Pioneer service rep didn't want to have anything to do with it, because it is a multi-country PAL model.
Summary: I always knew that Pioneer brand products were excellent quality; however, I have never purchased a Pioneer product before now because their products are usually very expensive. I purchased this DVD player and am very pleased as the price was reasonable and the quality is the best I have ever seen. I highly recommend this product as I know that it will stand the test of time compared to other brands.
Summary: This DVD player worked fine but it is NOT, as some of the comments suggest, region-free, nor can you make it region free (legally). My friends and I did some research and apparently if the DVD player is already region 2 or if it was made before a certain year it might be able to make it region free, or if you "flash" the DVD player--thereby editing its internal workings-- you could also make it region free (or render it completely useless).
Summary: I am so disappointed with this product! It claimed to be a region free dvd player, but IS NOT! I already have a dvd player, so I was only interested in the region free capabilities, and it has none. I also cannot get the seller to respond and have thus far been unable to return it.
Summary: ... it's not a multi-region player. Well, at least mine isn't. I've tried the much touted "insert region2 DVD, turn off the player, wait 30 secs, push STAND BY and FF simultanously" approach, but nothing. The player still spits out my region2 DVD in disgust, saying it's the wrong region. Now what could I possibly be doing wrong? Did I simply fall for a few fake reviews and order the wrong device (mine is the DV-393-S model) ?
Summary: It is not true that this is a multisystem/multiregion DVD player. It can play some DVDs from other regions, only if they are home made. All the other disks (movies/rentals/commercial) don't work. It's a big disappointment.
