  • Pros: So when you put items on a jump drive and play them on this, does it still play them according to the date the copy finished onto the jump drive, or does it play them as it should play them, in the alphabetical order of the list? The last time I used one of these (can't remember if it was a K mod...
  • Cons: I am seriously considering buying this but I need an answer to that question. I liked the unit itself when I had it before but I'd love to hear that they fixed that lame play order issue.

Exactly what I expected and then some

  • Summary: I haven't tested the HDMI quality, although the component is spectacular, and I haven't tested the USB capability. Other than that, this DVD player is GREAT. If I had the money, I'd get it as a gift for other family members.
  • Pros: -Video quality -Audio quality -Resume feature (I've tried it with 3 different DVD's and it works ^_^) -DVD readability
  • Cons: Yeah right!

I love these

  • Summary: On previous models there's some restrictions and I suspect this one is similar. Make sure the drive is formatted FAT32, don't make folders more than two levels deep, and keep the absolute number of folders anywhere on the drive under 100 or so and it'll work just fine.
  • Pros: Plays DiVX encoded AVI files from my 1TB Seagate LP drive in an external USB enclosure! (See limitations below) This is the second Pioneer model I've purchased and my favorite has been Pioneer with Phillips my second favorite.
  • Cons: Crops file names to a couple dozen characters or so on my DiVX AVI files. It's an annoyance but nothing more. It took a while to figure out how to put hundreds of movies on a single drive in a way that the palyer doesn't choke on.

  • Cons: the picture seemed better on my LG system, then again this one does not have periods of black outs.

usb port on dvd player

Harry E., Newegg
21 September 2009
  • Summary: see above
  • Pros: I'm amending my previous review.
  • Cons: I'm trying to determine the limitations of the usb port on this dvd player. It will play video from a usb thumb drive, but I've had trouble getting it to work with an external 2.5" hdd. First I created an extended partition on the hdd (320Gig WD drive) and formated with NTFS. This didn't work at ...

Good Player

Harry E., Newegg
20 September 2009
  • Summary: Its a great compact dvd player. I just wish I knew about the problems with the usb connector before I bought it.
  • Pros: Playes DVDs very well. I haven't tried all formats (ie DIVX) but it plays burnt dvds without a problem. I gave it 3 stars because of usb problems noted below.
  • Cons: usb connector isn't compatible with all usb devices. I was hoping to rip dvds and copy the files to a large (320gig) external 2.5" drive. I tried this, but it won't recognize the hdd. The power light comes on, but I can't browse the hdd to play the files. I checked support at Pioneer, and they sa...

  • Summary: all in all good for someone who doesn't quite want to build an ultimate home theater yet and has a big dvd collection
  • Pros: Converts about the best it can. USB is handy for playin music or video clips(p o r n).
  • Cons: menus for USB are a little hard to use such as building play lists and such but I'm just used to the xbox.
