Summary: When I first received this DVD player, I loved it. Unfortunately, I hadn't tried playing a DVD until I'd owned it for 3 months (using the USB stick option to play programs). Most DVDs don't work on this player - including DVDs I've bought from Amazon. About 5 months after I started using the DVD player, the USB stick option stopped working as well. So I can't play DVDs and can't download things onto the USB stick - pretty useless DVD player.
Summary: I was having trouble with dvd players for the past few months: two of a brand I had used for years gave up on me and a replacement I bought was really bad and difficult to use. My hairdresser had bought this Pioneer model and told me about it. I tried hers and liked it. Since using my Pioneer, I am totally happy. The functions are simple and easy to use.
Summary: Im living in america after moving from australia and i was looking for a DVD player that would play my aussie DVD's here in the US. It was difficult to find a PAL/NTSC player, so when i did i was super excited... I bought this in July 2010 and for 6 months it did actually play quite well. Then all of a sudden i got the message: "Incompatible disc region number Can't play disc" So i looked online for any kind of support, low and behold Pioneer doesnt support this system.
Summary: So happy to have found this region free DVD player by Pioneer. Pioneer has great value products and this region free player is what I was looking for. I purchased a DVD from Australia on ebay and then searched for weeks for hack codes to use on my DVD player/recorder with no success. Now I am just using this Pioneer. It has easy to use features and menu. Just plug, hook up cables and play any DVD.
Summary: This appears to be a great DVD player. Straight forward plug in and use. I have no problem playing either region 1 or 2 DVD's with this player, it plays a multitude of disc types of which I have had no problems with any. Great player for the price.
Summary: I ordered this player for the Region-Free feature, but it is important to note that the DV-120 does not have a port for an S-video cable, which I had on one TV set...and it would not function on that TV without using that. Nor does it have HDMI....The DV-220 apparently has HDMI port, and is only about $10 more [and gets more favorable reviews] This player is small and cheaply built, and the cables are the flimsy kind, but even using my more substantial cables on my other...
Summary: It is an inexpensive workable player. Longevity may not be its long suit, cheapest & thinest plastic I have seen. It is obviously made for the asian market. Watch-out for the player's slide out (small children and old men will break it within a few days). It has no ability to play Blue ray, despite the references to 1080P resolution. So you really have a non-HD player. The upgrade of normal play DVD's resolution leaves them looking 'ghostly' and worse for the attempt.
Easy to use, reliable, region free DVD player with USB
James Finch "James", Amazon

Summary: I originally bought this Pioneer DV-120K-K Region Free DVD Player with USB - Karaoke - and DivX playback player Dec. 13, 2010 in order to also be able to play AVI and other video media from my several USB External drives, having read that it had USB media hosting capability. I liked that it also was compact, had all region playability for my DVDs, some of which were region 2, 5 and others. It is a quality machine, but there are some important limitations.
