Amazing DVD player

  • Excerpt: This was the second Philips DVD player I bought.  I got it because it can play not only play, but upconvert DVDs, but it can also play AVI files off of CD, DVD, and through USB.  I have a degree in video production and wanted a DVD player I could check to see what files looked like on TV, since they look different than on a computer screen.  All I have to do is put my AVI onto a USB flash drive, plug into the Philips, and it will play.

Amazing Indeed

  • Excerpt: The DVP5960 is one of the best budget upconverting dvd player out on the market. This was my main player before all the hddvd and blueray hoopla. The DVP5960 play pretty much everything one could throw at it, mp3, dvd r +/-, mpeg/mpg, avi (divx, xvid), wmv and I am pretty sure I am missing something else. For $50, you cannot ask for more. More however, is what this beast give you.

Best inexpensive DVD player around

  • Excerpt: This DVD player is the best stand alone DVD player in my opinion. It has a great range of media that can be played. The picture is good when plugged in with component cables. Its sleek, thin, lightweight design make it that much better.

"Has given excellent service for 1.5 years."

  • Pros: Plays Divx files very well.
  • Cons: file names are 8 characters, so you can't always tell what file to choose. When playing via usb and there is a lot of action or water scene it tends to skip.
