With the help of its speakers, the audio produced is even higher in quality. Having a Digital – to – Analog converter, the picture quality’s authenticity is preserved.

Review Summary

The Philips DVP5140 DVD Player is a single-disc, mainstream DVD player. Compared to other mainstream DVD players on the market, it is selling at a very inexpensive price, around $60! This DVD player is equipped with a progressive scanning feature, capable of delivering higher-quality video images to compatible televisions. The Philips DVP5140 can play multiple types of recordable and rewritable discs and can handle more types of media that most DVD players. This player is quite slim at a height of 1.5 in. The Philips DVP5140 features JPEG playback, which allows viewing of digital photos (stored on a CD) on television. This Philips player is perfect for watching movies and or listening to music. Almost all discs can be played. The set up with this player is very easy there’s the option of either component or coaxial connections. However it doesn't have digital connections (HDMI). The remote control is quite useful and important at the same time; if you lose the remote, you've lost most of the functionality of the player. Most DVD menus don't work with the four buttons on the console. Nevertheless the remote doesn't have an eject function. Philips players are also easy to make region free players, you just have to enter a code on the remote control you play any region DVD. A little of searching must be done to find the code and how to do it but it's not difficult. Anyway this DVD player, Philips DVP5140 gives great picture; it reads practically anything you put in the slot. One user found this DVD perfect for parents surviving the early years of their kids, and this DVD is a piece of technology that will survive with you. Discs that used to not work on other DVD players because they were scratched, play on this player. Thus, it is a perfect buy for its price.
