Summary: Very disappointed to find out that I can't set timer for multiple channels for this recorder..you have to leave the channel that you want to record in order to record the show.. then,, if you want to record different show, you need to turn on TV and change the channel....Manual instruction was horrible!!! so hard to understand how to use.. bad remote control...Very slow to start..
Summary: I tried a $150 Panasonic, and like this Philips much more. Very Easy to use. Good choice of recording speeds. The 2 Hour speed is actually 2hrs10min. Recording & Playback quality is great. The Disk Finalizing is Fast. All recordings I made on this unit are Compatiable with all the DVD players I tried. Only complaint is if you dont record on the entire dvd. It gives you an empty title on the DVD menu. Example - if you make a recording of Ninety Minutes.
Summary: Ok, everything about this is a great unit, I would have kept it in a heart beat. Looks good, didn't like the remote at all! Here is the but:I have a widescreen TV, HD satellite, the darn thing has HDMI output but it will only record in 4:3 aspect! Now why would anyone want to use that instead of 16:9 when you have all the HD on everything else? Here is the line from the manual: This unit cannot record images as aspect ratio of 16:9.
Summary: This product does a very good job of getting the intended job done and metting the purpose for which I purchased the machine. Copied disc qualkity is excellent and I am well satisfied with the product.
Summary: I had some old home video tapes I'd been wanting to digitize, and the price was right for this unit, so I bought it. The set up and operation is easy enough, and the recording quality is good. I have no complaints, and am happy with the purchase. It only will record on single layer DVDs, but that was ok for my use, so if you need a double layer recorder, this one is not for you.
