"MP3 glitch"

CNET
1 September 2004
  • Pros: Great menu displays. Can play MP3s in random order. Your Sony can't do this.
  • Cons: Software glitch causes annoying loud blip between MP3 files. This is also a problem with the Panasonic F87.

"Excellent value DVD player if you're not looking for myriad of features."

CNET
25 July 2004
  • Pros: Solid all-around. If you're using a 4:3 tv with this player, video compression feature on the tv is a must to maximize the picture quality. Straightforward setup. I use it with an Onkyo TX-SR501 receiver, sound is excellent. CDs sound very good as well. V
  • Cons: In some instances, player does not remember where you were if you stop play and restart. Says it is DVD-Audio capable, but manual says it will only play it in 2-channel mode (there are no 5-channel outputs for DVD-audio). Various 'enhancers' don't seem to

"Best $100 Progressive Scan Player out there."

CNET
14 July 2004
  • Pros: Great design. I just love how it looks under my silver Mitsubishi TV. You gotta have a 16:9 tv to get the best performance. The picture looks great and the player has a wealth of features, including manual zooming and zoom presets, picture enhancements, s
  • Cons: The remote isn't the nicest looking thing and its a bit oddly shaped. Don't touch the depth enhancer, but DO turn on the AV enhancer AND make sure you finetune your picture setting on your HDTV.

"Great Features, perfect for HDTV"

CNET
11 July 2004
  • Pros: Looks great on my 90 inch projector, has numerous image adjustment options to fine tune to your display. 4:3 auto shrink works well for widescreen tvs. Variable zoom can make all movies fit 16x9 widescreen without black bars with the push of a remote butt
  • Cons: depth enhancer works by blurring the background slightly to remove noise--it is evident on my big screen, however quick movements by foreground objects make blurry edges, and thinks like hair strands can become blurred into the background.I didn't really
