Good specs poor quality.

  • Summary: I've had two of these units and both would regularly reboot/power-down. This can be quite frustrating when you are trying to convert a large VHS library to DVD. I've tried DVD-RW and DVD+RW and neither format made any difference in the performance of the unit. I suspect the firmware code is poorly written and was not thoroughly QA. Very disappointed with Panasonic.

  • Summary: Yes this unit can burn your 8mm home movies onto a dvd ... does your 8mm camcorder still work? if it does simply plug the output of the camcorder into the line in on the front of the panasonic unit ... put a blank dvd in and select the right input and hit play on the camcorder and record on the panasonic I have yet to see a combo unit like this that does as much and so well ...

It also, as itseems most media players do, wants you to set the clockfirst. Those flashing zeros don't go away until you do so. I'm still in the process of reading that wonderfully typicaltech-nerd written how-to manual myself, and probably due toa severe case of undiagnosed ADD, am having a hell of a timefinding the...

Glitchy product

  • Summary: My unit arrived yesterday. I powered it up and it seemed to work fine. The DVD player worked ok. I tried to play a VHS tape but so far I haven't been able to get it to play. I push play and nothing happens. I left it alone and the next day, the unit is completely unresponsive. Powered it down and back up, but still the unit just flashes a countdown of zeros on the front display. I can't even get my VHS tape ejected so as to take this annoying device back to the store.
