Summary: This versatile DVD recorder handles all formats including DVD RAM which has the advantage of being re-recordable hundreds of times (vs. DVD-RW or DVD+RW which are re-recordable less than 4 times). The built-in digital TV receiver provides excellent video to my old analog TV via component video cables (red, blue, & green cables, not the single yellow cable of composite video).
Pros: Clear layout on remote, Fast Setup, Simple Controls
Summary: I always record cable programs on DVD-RAM discs. With previous models it is possible to shorten the recorded program to eliminate commercials etc. This unit does not work in the same way in the EDIT mode. I consider this an unfortunate change.
Pros: Attractive Design, Fast Recording, Fast Setup
Summary: PURCHASING UNIT-THE ON LINE SALES REP. WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL BUT DID NOT APPRECIATE HIM OFFERING THE ADDITIONAL REPAIR INSURANCE PLAN WITHOUT ALSO STATING THE PLAN OFFERED BY PANASONIC-THUS I HAD TO MAKE AN ADDITIONAL TRIP TO CANCEL THE PLAN. FORTUNATELY I EXPERIENCED NO PROBLEM WITH THE CANCELLATION.
Summary: I love the sleak design of the console. I have it on low energy which may cause it to turn on slowly. The remote control needs an open/close button. The pre-programming is what I mainly use it for and that function is fantastic. Easy to label all that you pre-record. I would highly recommend this product.
Summary: I use the Panasonic DMR-EZ28K DVD Recorder for recording off of cable TV. The recordings are very good quality and you have a lot of flexibility in setting your recording parameters. This flexibility may strike some as cumbersome, but it allows one to decide how much material to include on a disk. And since the unit has a "flexible record function," you can make recordings that make optimal use of the space you have available on disk.
Summary: This is a really nice product for someone looking to replace a VCR for day to day recording duties. It acts as a mini DVR (only with the use of a DVD-RAM disc) in the fact that you can start watching a program from the beginning while it continues to record. We only record a few shows a week and don't want the expense of a TiVo type service for so little use so this works perfectly for us.
