Excerpt: Best priced unit for the amount of options I wanted, but it has an anger causing habit of shutting itself down sometimes if not programming right or if overheats. Works best when it is recording on its timer rather than doing it "live" while watching. (of course I've never understood recording it if your watching it anyway, but that's just me-not everyone.) Programming it took some learning but once you've got it down your set.
Great dual-layer capable recorder, but can be tricky to set up..

Excerpt: I had a lot of problems with this DVD recorder. It was hooked up through the cable box first and DVD recorder second, but it would not retain the input settings. I ended up with numerous coasters because my recordings were snow. I called Panasonic 6 times. They had sent me a firmware upgrade disk, which worked well for a short while, but then I lost my electric and after re-setting up everything all over again, I was back to recording snow.
Excerpt: This Panasonic DVD player is simply top of the line and superb! I'm not really sure what other people's gripes on here are about it, but this device has worked perfectly for me for quite a while now and I am very pleased with it. First off, it is inexpensive and is overall a great buy. Secondly, it is well-built and can read a variety of DVD types, including DL disks, which is important to me.
Summary: The absence of an eject button on the remote is an incovenience, but a minor one: personally we prefer to use the remote so that the drawer is open and the disc immediately accessible to be removed rather than go to the player, press "eject" on the chassis, and then wait the admittedly short time for the drawer to open.
Summary: I've been through a handful of DVD recorders recently, all from different manufacturers, and all quickly developed problems reading other discs (commercially made silvers, etc.). I began to wonder if it was a common hang-up with DVD recorders -- then I met the Panasonic DMR-EZ27. Even the remote was heavy!I've had no problems with scheduled recordings.
Summary: The Panasonic DVD recorder DMR-EZ27K is far from easy (EZ) when you need to schedule recordings:* No eject button on the remote control* Must be turned OFF for scheduled recording* To finalize a recording 2 steps are necessary: >>>1st - Eject button must be pushed to finalize recording - but NO EJECT button on REMOTE!!!
