Front panel operation and multi-angle viewing are also some of the features included.

Review Summary

The Panasonic DMR-ES25S most excellent feature is the LP-recording mode and its great flexible recording-length. The Panasonic’s DMR-ES25S mostly silver chassis sports a black horizontal midsection containing the readout and disc drawer. There are a few front-panel controls, including record, stop, and play buttons, but it lacks chapter-skip controls. In the middle of the black section, there's a small retracting hatch for the SD memory card slot, and beneath is a flip-down door that reveals a FireWire input for easy camcorder recordings, an additional A/V input with S-Video, and channel-up/down buttons. Most of the navigation can be done by using the remote and there is a welcome commercial-skip button that jumps a minute forward. The remote can also control most brands of TVs. Another important feature is its ability to edit video, although this can only be done with DVD-RAM discs. Panasonic is compatible with all types of recordable DVD media; DVD-RAM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, and both -R and +R dual-layer discs, the DMR-ES25S. Its connectivity is highlighted by the HDMI output, which has the ability to upconvert to 480p, 720p, and 1080i resolution. However it lacks an IR blaster, so if you use a cable or satellite box, you'll have to make sure it's tuned to the correct channel for timer recordings. There's also no VCR Plus or TV Guide EPG. If one wants to use this DVD as a CD/MP3 player with his stereo, the TV must be on to tell which track is currently being played. The recorder front display shows only the current song time and will not display any track information. This DVD-Video player/recorder with HDMI output, up-conversion capability, is very easy to use. The picture is clear and sharper than other DVD recorders. Considering its inexpensive price and good performance, it is attracting many buyers.
