Excerpt: I am using this to archive my VHS tapes to DVD. First-this works with US voltage without a hitch if you use the included wall adapter plug. Second it does NOT convert PAL to NTSC but plays all regions and both PAL & NTSC. BTW, if you have a Vizio LED TV you can play back PAL without an external converter. The most useful part of the machine is the Hard Disk recording in FR (flexible recording mode), which one can then copy to a DVD.
Excerpt: I hate the idea of paying subcription fees to record a TV show and I was tired of the limited capacity of my DVD recorder. This thing does the job. Pros: Attractive Design, Fast Setup, Good picture quality, Simple Controls

Excerpt: Physically, the unit is solid, and came with a European (female) to U.S. (male) adapters, and two European power cables (I was only expecting one). Power cable goes into the unit, into the supplied adapter, and into a standard U.S. outlet - no problems. Technically, I've hooked the unit up to my television via HDMI output, and I've hooked my SVHS deck up to the recorder via RCA audio and S-Video video cable.
Excerpt: We use this dvd recorder to make dvd copies for our customers from our various video tapes. It is much easier than doing it on a pc if you don't have to do a bunch of edits. NTSC Dvd recorders with hdd are hard to come by nowadays and this thing works perfectly for us. One of our other panasonic dvd recorders just gave up after ca. 10 years of service and thousands of programs burned.
