Summary: This is a great blu-ray player and the only one so far to play dvd-audio (now the Oppo does as well for 500 bones), so if that interests you then you are getting a two-for-one deal. This receiver does (contra previous reviews) decode Dolby TrueHD and DTS High Resolution, but not DTS-HD Master.
Summary: This player is great. It has above average picture quality and the load times are considerably faster than the Sony BDP-S300. The remote control is abysmal. The button layout is counter intuitive and it's difficult to even find a menu button. I would highly recommend using a 3rd party universal remote with this player. For those looking for solid performance at an entry level price this Panasonic is worth a second look.
Summary: The player itself is well made and movies both SD and HD look great - this player's upconversion to 1080p works very well. The major drawbacks are #1: a very cheaply made remote control that is totally non ergonomic and looks like it's made for a 10-year-old and #2: the on-screen interface is lame and doesn't display desired information. However, the player is great overall and if it were not for these two drawbacks, it would get a 5 star rating.
Do the Firmware upgrade. "No problem" with 'APPK' Model designation"

Summary: I ordered a DMP-BD10AK, and Amazon's selling partner (not mentioned in description) shipped a DMP-BD10APPK. In an e-mail exchange, their partner has implied that it is the same unit and that "The manufacturer's box adds the PP to the SKU for internal inventorypurposes". In any case, after the first disk played locked up ten minutes in, I upgraded the firmware from v2.4 to v2.5 using Panasonic's download service.
Summary: We used two of these superb Blu-ray players for a display of my wife, Tereza Djurkovic's, videoart pieces at a recent show at the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and they performed flawlessly, playing back Blu-ray DVDs authored by Ascent Media in Burbank, via new 10-series Panasonic 50" plasma displays.
Summary: I can concur with previous reviews that this player is exceptional, but the rebate offer of 5 free dvd's is no longer available (unless they've extended it) so keep that in mind when you make your purchase. UPDATE!! After perusing this machine here at Amazon I've noticed They've created a new rebate offer good for purchases through January 31, 2008.
Summary: My only concern with the Panasonic DMP was that the first unit would not work - the disk tray would not open, even after I tried the troubleshooting guides suggestions on button sequences to overcome this problem. Amazon was great in getting the unit replaced immediately and reimbursing my shipping costs, and the replacement unit works wonderful! What a great picture, even for the old DVDs!
Summary: This is a great blu-ray player, even looks nice. Better than those god awful Sony BD players. Only thing this needs is DTS HD Master decoding... disappointing. Of course, there aren't any DTS HD MA audio yet. But in response to the other reviewers, the HDMI 1.3 is basically irrelevant. This player will can send out UNCOMPRESSED LPCM audio (either from a decoded TrueHD soundtrack or from uncompressed PCM soundtrack on certain blu-rays) over HDMI.
