Summary: I bought this about 4 years ago and it still works great! I gave it to my parents when I upgraded to a dvr but I never had one problem with this and I loved that it could read external hard drives via the USB interface. Awesome product!
Summary: I got this a year ago, and it's just wonderful. Both the picture and sound are first class. It replaced a crappy Toshiba player that was the biggest piece of electronic crap I have ever purchased. this is so much better, I swear it makes my dvd's sound and look better than any other player I have seen. Highly recommended.
Summary: I have had this recorder for about a year. I unplugged it one day to vacuum and after that, I kept getting a "no disc" message. I tried the remedy suggested in the instruction booklet and I got it to work one more time, but after that, I kept getting the error message. Of course, it is now out of warranty and I would have to pay for it to be repaired. I was very disappointed as I am the only one here and did not use it very often.
Summary: This by far is the best DVD player I have ever owned. I love the intelligent up-conversion, its simple look at the fact that I can control just about every facet of the player. It is amazing they could do all this for so little money. This is one of those devices that if you buy it, you will love it, but you will never be able to get your friends to buy it.
Summary: Amazing! This appliance is simply amazing and it's backed by a sound company from which i have received nothing but top notch, lightning-fast customer support from. About 6 months after receiving the player, the remote took a vacation. I emailed the oppo support folks who responded back within a couple hours and posted a walk-through on how to reset the remote and resync it with the player.
Summary: "These are the days of miracles and wonder" wrote Paul Simon. I use the Oppo machine in a system that (apart from the Oppo) would have to be classified as audiophile caliber. The speakers are Martin Logan electrostats. (For normal folks, let's just say they are VERY revealing of detail most speakers muffle. Very critical of anything wrong, therefore.) The machine it replaced died, and I needed something to feed digital data to my D to A converter.
Summary: We have a 37" 720p (and 1080i) LCD tv. We bought this upscaling DVD player to ride out the format wars. The picture is incredible. I can definitely tell the difference between a Blue Ray disc and an up-scaled DVD, but honestly, the difference is probably slight for all but the largest screens. Now that it looks like Blue Ray will be the winner, we will keep our eye out for a nice Blue Ray player to complement the Oppo.
Summary: Love this DVD player. It performs perfectly, is easy to use, is sleek and fits under my TV cabinet (no more room inside), and DVD's look sharp and crisp. I don't care that the DVD tray is not sturdier; it's never malfunctioned and is in as good shape now as on the day I bought this player. Oppo tech support is courteous and responsive and yes, they speak English! Had I known I would have waited for Blue Ray but I couldn't have asked for a better upconverting player.
Summary: After reading about how great Oppo DVD players were for their upconverting feature, I bought a refurb model that matched the specs on my small screen HDTV. The unit is truly AMAZING! My DVDs never looked this good! The refurb worked perfectly and my only disappointment was that it took two weeks to receive the unit.
Summary: At first I was a little skeptical because I have never heard of the brand, but after spending over $5000 on a plasma, I needed something nice and easy. This DVD player was so easy to connect. And it came with an extra HDMI cable! How great is that?! The quality is really good, but I did have a couple problems...it has frozen, mid movie on brand new DVD's and doesn't play some at all. All and all I think it's worth the money for all the features.
