Excerpt: The Magnavox DVD and VCR recorder is absolute garbage. I bought this machine because I need to convert some old VHS cassettes to digital format so that I don’t lose my memories to deterioration.
Excerpt: When I purchased my Magnavox DVD Recorder, Model #ZV427MG9, I had such high hopes for the product. I had anticipated using it to transfer home videos, as well as to produce back up copies of already purchased video products.
Excerpt: We are old enough that we still have quite the VHS collection and we don't have the money to get all of those videos in DVD or Blue Ray form. When our VHS player died my dad bought us a Manavox DVD Recorder/VCR Combo and it has been great. First of all it is great in that we can record DVD's so we can work at recording our VHS tapes onto DVD's. The record feature is really easy to use. It has inputs and outputs in the back and on the front for easy video game hook ups.
Summary: Please be aware that this machine cannot be connected to your tv set, or used with cable without buying a tuner box separately. (It lacks the "antenna in", "antenna out" ports.) If you get your tv through cable you have to buy a turner box. I returned this machine and bought one that could be connected directly to my tv. I feel that the avertising on this machine should have explained clearly that it cannot be used without buying extra equipment.
Summary: This unit was a snap to hook-up. definately " plug n' play"!! I have owned many Magnavox products for many years, and highly reccomend their products. RCA cables included, but, you need to provide your own HDMI cables also an "S' video cable if neeeded. You can dub a VHS tape to DVD, & visaversa. picked up my unit at "site-to-store", a week ago, and it has performed flawlessly. Audio and video quality are excellent.
