Cons: my unit was very unreliable. stopped reading discs and sometimes would fail to finalize after recording, rendering the recording useless. all this with a variety of discs, but usually used Taiyo Yudens. sent in for repair once within warranty, but the problems came back again.
Summary: Even though it's a great price, you'll be buying a new recorder in about a year if they're all alike.
Pros: Worked great for a while.
Cons: After about a year, it no longer will prepare a blank DVD for burning. It just spins it indefinitely until I get the 'invalid disk' error. I've also tried several different brands and still no luck.
Summary: Perhaps what it needs is indeed a firmware update, but the LVW5005 will not even accept that! the update disk was done on three different media, and three different cd/dvd writers... all to no avail.
Pros: I have traditionally sworn by Liteon products..Now i am not so sure..I bought the Liteon 5005 at Newegg about 6 months ago..it worked fine with any media i threw at it...for 3 weeks now, its become troublesome. It tells me most ALL the new media , TDK, Ritek, Fuji, others, are bad disks, and that...
Cons: After all, it DID work for the first few months i had it...now???
Summary: I bought this product because it received mostly good reviews. I'm afraid to say I've had nothing but problems with this recorder. I bought 3 different types of DVDs (I took the list of recommended DVDs to the store to make sure I buy the right ones) and had problems with all of them.
Cons: The recorder very noisy and very slow to load or stopp.
Pros: Did a great job transferring from Hi8 to DVD. Easy to use.
Cons: Lite On tech support says they have a memo out that states there are problems with the 6 hour record format and not to use this unit if you want any kind of quality with 6 hour recording. There are bugs that they have not been able to work out yet. I did not know this when I purchased the unit. T...
Excerpt: Bought this model Liteon LVW-5005 from Argos a few years ago was used only to transfer Digital camera recordings to dvd. The ie connection wasn't very good & only was used a dozen times before the dvd drive stopped.Liteon didn't want to know Not very impressed
Summary: Para empezar lo califico de malo por lo siguientes motivos, los CDs de vídeo con proyectos de fotografía que grabo en el PC o MAC los tengo que meter igual 10 veces hasta que no me dice "no disc" y me lo reproduce.
