NO GOOD!!!

Sheldon P., Newegg
6 December 2006
  • Summary: I read the reviews after the fact, I sugest everyone do the same with every product. The reviews are the one of the big pro's of NEWEGG! I just hope I can get my money back.
  • Pros: They repacked it nice!!!
  • Cons: My unit had a dusty disc drawer! And I dont mean a little dust, it was a lot of dust and it would not read any disc.

Good while it worked

Manuel R., Newegg
2 December 2006
  • Summary: This device works good while it lasts. For the price now, it does a good job but if it starts acting on you out of nowhere, get ready to beat the machine up because it just gets me on my nerves.
  • Pros: When it worked, it burned every show I threw at it without any issues and supported all DVD's I purchased. Cost me a few hundred when I bought it a couple of years ago but it was the newest and one of the most affordable ones. Plays movies, music, and shows pictures like its supposed to.
  • Cons: No DivX support, which isn't really the machines fault since it was released a few years ago when I purchased it. Out of nowhere, this thing started to act like it was a bootleg machine. I have to spend a good 5 minutes every time I put a DVD in because it keeps opening and closing the tray nonst...

So far so good

Steve N., Newegg
28 November 2006
  • Pros: Works like it should so far. It is picky on DVD media. I use Philips 4x DVD+RW's for most recording and transfer to PC for final cut. I believe this is the same as the sample +RW media they give you with the machine. RiData 100 pack 8x DVD+R media is good if want to do direct burn and forget. I'v...
  • Cons: Other than picky about media, none so far.

Warranty support

Crispin C., Newegg
24 November 2006
  • Summary: This is the third lite-on product I've owned that has failed before the warranty had expired.
  • Pros: Burns to multiple discs.
  • Cons: Lite-On support is a joke, sent mine in for service in June and here I am six months later and they still have it, I had burned less than a dozen dvd's when it failed.

keep looking

Joseph R., Newegg
20 November 2006
  • Pros: inexpensive
  • Cons: my unit was very unreliable. stopped reading discs and sometimes would fail to finalize after recording, rendering the recording useless. all this with a variety of discs, but usually used Taiyo Yudens. sent in for repair once within warranty, but the problems came back again.

Decent Set-Top

Anonymous, Newegg
20 November 2006
  • Summary: This is a nice recorder with more than enough features for the casual user. It's recording quality is quite good, but it does have one flaw. I have a dvd camcorder, which writes onto mini dvd's (dvd-r, etc) which it has a very hard time reading and playing.
  • Pros: Quality, ease of use, style.
  • Cons: Has trouble with mini dvd's.

User Review

Mr. T., Newegg
2 November 2006
  • Pros: Second set, first recorder no problem, why I went with another
  • Cons: Bought Sep 17, set up Nov 1, won't read any disc, prerecorded or blank, shouldn't have bought a birthday present so early since it carries only 30 days from Newegg

I love this machine!

Hany Y., Newegg
11 October 2006
  • Summary: I hope it won't stop working after 2 months as others have been saying...
  • Pros: I got this DVD recorder almost a month ago and I have transferred at least 25 VHS tapes to DVD and I loaned to a friend of mine who burnt stuff from her Tivo onto DVDs. I am using TDK DVD+R (I bought 100 for $xx). It never gave me any problems. I am using this recorder with a Sima image stabilize...
  • Cons: Nothing bad so far

Moody Recorder

Matt A., Newegg
30 September 2006
  • Pros: It is a good all format recorder/player while it works which is not for long :)
  • Cons: Will not read Discs, takes forever to prepare and gives invalid disc error. Slow or sometimes no response to buttons i.e stop, eject
