Streaming Feature Works w/ Win7, not XP

Joe Y., Amazon
17 June 2013
  • Summary: Bought this primarily for the feature to stream from PC/laptop to LG HDTV. Works with Win7 on laptop, but not XP on desktop. Would've given 5 stars if XP had worked. Also, reads MKV files on thumb drive that's plugged into Upgrader. Could not read such files if thumb drive is plugged directly into LG TV.

Only one of it's kind

Duane Timmons, Amazon
18 March 2013
  • Summary: I love the idea of being able to use my TV for more than just broadcast/cable TV. This little box does that! And it is the only one I have found that has an actual web browser (yes, you can type in URL's and go to any website) built in. My only compaint is the clunky remote (that's why there are 4 not 5 stars in my rating). It works but not quickly.

Awesome little device for non App TV's.

James Mac, Amazon
22 February 2013
  • Summary: First the bad, LG has an ingenious feature on some of their devices called simplelink which allows you to use one remote on all your LG devices. Not sure what LG was thinking so I had to drop this device one star because they did not add the simplelink feature when they designed this little device. Someone at LG had a lapse in memory.

LG smar tv

Dannyboy, Amazon
30 December 2012
  • Summary: This box works fairly well but interface is poor. The wireless connection is not always recognized as being connected. The box is great for Netflix, Hulu, etc. but I haven't found a good USA news app. I don't think there will be anymore updates. You can hook up an external hard drive and it can play most video formats. You can't do that with AppleTV. Apple TV has a much better interface and better video performance.

LG-Smart Media streamer

Aaron, Amazon
20 January 2013
  • Summary: I find the product quite easy to use and has quite a few apps for you to use, only problem I have there is no Netflix on the box and it freezes up when watching a film. Would understand if I was using wireless but I am using a RJ45 cable and have a very fast connection from Virginmedia. but overall find the product extremely good especially with the browser function.

BBC iPlayer does now work since latest firmware upgrade

Bob Anwyl-Hughes, Amazon
15 January 2013
  • Summary: This an excellent product that has provided WiFi connectivity to downloaded films on my computer and, via Apps provided through LG, YouTube, CineTrailer, LoveFilm and others including, until recently, BBC iPlayer. Sound and picture quality are very good Since the most recent firmware upgrade (which cannot be suspended or reversed) the BBC iPlayer App loads, but only the sideways arrows work, and then very slowly.

Just a touch unhappy?

D. Balmer "E Douglas", Amazon
5 October 2011
  • Summary: I spent today installing the unit and found that it worked much better when connected directly to the router. I had bought a couple of adapters that use the house mains as the network wiring, the intention being to leave the router upstairs hard wired to the PC and mains adapters to hard wire the unit. The unit did not like the connection and would not connect properly, although it did wirelessly.
