Summary: The manual for this product was not laymen friendly. In fact I had to take it to PC World to set it up. Within one week it was asking me if I wanted it to format pre-recorded DVDs! I tried to record on the Verbatim DVD+RW and although it was successful at first with a couple of days it kept saying disc error or no disc. The whole thing was very fraustrating and I never felt more delighted in returning a product as I did with this one!!
Summary: When it worked, it was quite good. It handled most of my discs OK, but sadly missed the end off some recordings by perhaps a minute or so, even though there was enough space on the disc. However, after about a week, it took longer and longer to start up until it just said hello on the display, and got no further. Argos were very good and gave me an immediate refund as they didn't have any more in stock locally.
Summary: I purchased the recorder so I could make use of the hdmi socket. The setup was easy and with this in mind I was looking forward to recording a disc.Maxell are My preferred manufacturer of dvd- discs so i loaded one into the player which took an age to read. After about a minute the disc was ejected with the message "unable to read disc" . I tried a few more discs with the same result.
Summary: Worked alright for 18 months, then wouldn't recognise DVDs to write on, then won't operate at all. I have other LG products and don't expect that brand to fail, so disappointed. Didn't use heavily, just recording weekly WWE for my best mate...
Summary: Within 24hr the recorder failed to operate properly. Failed to recognise some discs, failed to finalise other discs after recording. Machine indicated it was recording (light on) when in fact it had stopped after 2min of recording. Would not eject discs unless machine switched off at mains first. Have bought LG recorder in the past and that was less than satisfactory so should have known better. Have certainly learnt my lesson and would never buy another LG product.
Summary: Set up was easy enough and everything looked good, until we put the box on standby - then we lost viewing of SKY. All the connections are correct and the manual states there shouldn't be a problem with putting it on standby as it will still loop through. Had to take it back to Argos yesterday and have got a replacement. Haven't set it up yet, but fingers crossed we don't get the same fault.
Summary: l given away my old one, that l had bought from Argos only a few years ago that cost a lot less than this one. l'd hoped this one would be as good or better but it's not.lt was easy to set up as l'd had two before, but the instruction book is not very easy to understand.lt will NOTplay the DVDs l had previously recorded, [except Maxcell],there is NO volume control on it so alter sound it needs to use the TV control. The Freeview has only TV channels but the old one had all...
Excerpt: Theres a host of problems with this DVD recorder. The up-scaling keeps reverting to its lowest resolution, 576i, and theres no button on the remote to change it so you have to get up bend down and press a button. [EDIT: The workaround for this problem is to always turn the TV on first.] The built-in freeview is pretty good except for two major problems the first being the problem with the up-scaling and the second being that the sound often drops out for a second.
