  • Excerpt: Went from a Samsung to this model and this is a giant leap in comparison. Clear pictures, easy recording, freeview no problems, lets me plug in a usb stick (!!!!!!!!!!!!!). Great stuff for the price. I found the negative reviews here slightly fair - its not for advanced users. Cheap but very cheerful. Its simple to set up and has a quick boot up time. Really, really like this machine.

  • Excerpt: Theres a host of problems with this DVD recorder. The up-scaling keeps reverting to its lowest resolution, 576i, and theres no button on the remote to change it so you have to get up bend down and press a button. [EDIT: The workaround for this problem is to always turn the TV on first.] The built-in freeview is pretty good except for two major problems the first being the problem with the up-scaling and the second being that the sound often drops out for a second.

  • Excerpt: The nice thing about this recorder is it records on both + and - DVD formats so you dont have to worry about getting the right blank DVDs. It can also record to +DL disks if you need extra recording time and in the box there is a SCART lead which most manufacturers leave out. As well as a built in freeview tuner, the LG still has a traditional analogue tuner so if you dont have freeview yet, you can still use the LG until digital switch over.

  • Excerpt: I bought the DRT389H to replace my faulty Hitachi DVD/HDD recorder. The specification for the LG was good without being spectacular. I bought it primarily for making DVDs from a Freesat PVR (WHEN they decide to launch one!), so all I needed was a good, basic unit that was comfortable with a wide range of discs. The LG comes with Freeview as standard, which is a great feature on such a low-cost unit. Its quite easy to programme, & the remote is fairly user-friendly.

  • Excerpt: If you are in the market for a no nonsense dvd recorder, this model should be seriously considered. It does all the things described in the listing above. It is easy to set up, and I particularly like the transparent menus. The menu display is different from my previous model (as might be expected) and takes a little getting used to, but once you become familiar with it, its easy to use. The factory set up is designed to be used with freeview.

  • Excerpt: ***What is it*** The LG DRT389H is a dvd player with upscaling function, dvd recorder and freeview box all incorporated in one easy to manage stylish sleek unit. ***Suitable for*** The unit is suitable for anyone who wants to copy from a non copyright protected source (sky's box office movies are non recordable due to copyright) I myself bought this to record of my sky box so i could have extra space for more recordings.

  • Excerpt: So after what has been an eternity,I picked one of these up from Tesco, and so far I'm impressed. Costing a little under £125, it's a fairly compact entry level DVD recorder for those who like technology without hassle. Opening up the box, you will find it comes with the unit itself, a remote control plus battery, RF cable, AV cable and the all important instruction booklet.

  • Excerpt: Hi This is the best DVD recorder going it does what it says, good picture quality and sound, it also has built in Freeview and is very easy to use and set up. I have linked this to my LG TV Video to copy VHS to DVD and it works a treat. There are even controls for LG TVs on the DVD remote so you dont have to use the TV remote.
