Summary: Looks good on the outside and worked okay for a while and then sticks and freezes. I bought another DVD player for $39 that works better - or at least it keeps working. Very disappointed in the junk this player is. And reading over all the low reviews i see it is a common known issue that Denon is not taking responsibility for a flawed product. They should do a recall or issue replacements.
Summary: I have this DVD player and I love it. I play mostly PAL (UK) DVDs on it and the picture quality is amazing. I also have an Oppo 83 and the picture on the Denon (for normal rez DVDs) is smoother. I can't hear a sound difference between these two players, no matter how hard I try. I use my Oppo for playing Blu-rays.
Summary: This unit worked well enough out of the box but eventually began freezing and skipping. Unplugging and resetting the unit worked a few times but now all it does is show red-yellow and blue scrambled blotches with some excellent sound in the background. I have several Dennon products and it is a good brand but this is an expensive black brick. And trying to get service on the unit is like trying to buy a ticket on plane with the last name of Jihad..
Summary: Very well built & executed power supply. But the output board had 8 JRC op-amps. This would put a hold on everything behind it Like the Reialta engine and great power supply. So in went 8- AD 8620B amps And Now I can hear WAYYYYY deeper into the music. Movies have lots more impact too.
WARNING!!! DENON IS WELL KNOWN AT THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU!!!
27 March 2011
Summary: Denon has been given an F rating by the Better Business Bureau! This is the lowest rating a company can receive! If you have been a victim of a Denon product, you can file a claim at the BBB's website, or, you can call the BBB and they will mail you a complaint form. I made the terrible mistake of purchasing the 2930ci from SIXTH AVENUE ELECTRONICS when they were attempting to DUMP these players at the SUSPICIOUSLY low price of $298.00.
Summary: I just stumbled upon this review section after searching for repair options my 2930 DVD player. Two years ago I bought this player along with the Denon 4308. While I still love the receiver, the DVD player was retired shortly after I purchased the unit. It would lock up and fail to read DVD/CD media often, which seems to be the problems that most are reporting.
Summary: I bought this player refurbished through Amozon. It arrived at my home in like new condition. The picture quality is very strong, better than any other DVD player I've ever had, and there have been many. The sound for SACD is also excellent. However, this unit has a reputation for laser head problems, which can be replaced easily enough if need be. The build quality is good, very heavy and deep for a DVD player.
Summary: Do not purchase this player. I bought it and it worked for about 2 days and then the problems started. It stops and starts when it wants to and sometimes doesnt start at all. For example I put a dvd in to watch about 20 minutes ago and it still has "disc loading" on the face.(Thats the last straw that prompted me to go to the computer and write this) When it works, you would be watching a movie, everything is fine and then it will either just stop ,jump a couple scenes...
Summary: Bought as a refurbished unit, but plays like a brand new unit. The Denon is hooked up to a 1080p 62inch Mitsubishi DLP and "SHINES" the picture is awesome my dvd's never looked better, the sound is also spectacular.
Summary: I purchased this product 2 years ago hoping that it would live up to the hype and be a high-end DVD/SACD player at a relatively modest price (I paid the full retail price of $849). I have had nothing but problems with it, similar to those described by other reviewers--namely that a DVD would freeze up for no apparent reason. I sent the unit to Denon's factory repair unit 3 times.
