Review Summary

Denon DVD-2930CI is a high-end upscaling DVD player with an outstanding image quality. Its special features are, SACD, DIVX and DVD-Audio can be played on it. Its upscale is up to 480i/480p/720p/1080i/1080p. What basically attracts a buyer to this DVD is its stylish and strong design. Not one to handle a lot of features like the network media streaming or USB ports on the Denon, it does have both high-resolution audio formats: DVD-Audio and SACD. As far as file formats are concerned, the Denon DVD-2930CI can handle several file formats like DivX, MP3, WMA, and JPEG. A Pure Direct mode is provided to disengage all video processing which would allow audio-only discs to have lesser chance of picking up the interference. Solidly made with an all-black brushed metal faceplate, it delivers the feeling of a serious A/V component. Few front panels button are included which are the chapter forward/backward buttons and HDMI resolution controls. If ever the remote is missing, these controls come in handy. By its size of 4.02 inches high, 17.09 inches wide, and 16.19 inches deep, it is known to be a bit larger than normal DVDs. The remote control is very easier to navigate, nothing too confusing about it as the buttons are rightly placed on it. It’s considered to be quite expensive for a DVD player. Only those who can afford it will be able to own it. It’s quite a disadvantage as it’s considered very expensive for a deck that doesn't play next-gen HD-DVD or Blu-ray discs. A certain user would love it if the aspect ratio control is available a button in the Denon DVD-2930CI. As usual, high quality comes with a high price. In spite of that, its image quality is not a sight to be missed if you are a perfectionist when it comes to picture quality.
