28 June 2014
Summary: MINE, MINE, MINE...good luck finding yours anywhere. This Denon DVD unit plays discontinued SACD medium, discontinued DVD-Audio medium, discontinued HDCD medium and has a HDMI up-conversion output to boot. It has a six channel output for receiver/preamp units with six channel input. Add to all these ultra-rare features you will not find on 99.9% of all dvd players on the market the fact the unit is made by DENON, how can one loose?
Summary: I already have a good Blu-Ray player but wanted something that could handle the various audio formats: SACD, HDCD, and DVD-A. This old component is as good as an Oppo BDP-93 I own for my Home Theatre. Audio quality out of the box is on par with the Oppo. The nice thing, and one reason I bought it, is the ease to mod it. I recently installed new resisters, Op-Amps, and upgraded capacitors. I'm not electronic genius and it was easy.
Summary: LIST PRICE IS $1,380 ( FAIR PRICE USED IS $375.00 to 500.00 Detailed item info Product Information Experience excellent audio and video quality with the Denon DVD-2910! Music lovers will love this Denon Audio Video player, which preserves even the lowest frequency audio signals that are often lost during D/A conversion. Progressive scan technology in this Denon DVD Player produces crisp and noise free pictures with fine detailing.
Summary: I've had one of these players for several years. Like many people, I have a pretty large collection of DVDs and an HDTV. I also don't want to pay a lot of money for Blu-Ray movies. The nice thing about this player is that it upscales DVDs to 1080i, so the picture is better than out of a standard DVD player hooked up via component video cables -- you have to use the DVI output to upscale the video, though! Tons of setup options, good sound, good video, no problems.
Summary: Denon DVD-2910 is a nice dvd player. Images are bright, detailed and colors pretty natural. Film sound is more than acceptable but when moving to 2 channels (CD or SACD) quality is not as good as I hoped. SACD sound is pretty poor when compared with multiformat cd players or dedicated sacd players. When coming to other formats situation can get a little complicated. I have several mp3 cds made from my own cds, none of them is recognized by the DVD-2910s.
Summary: Features are EXCELLENT!.. However customer service DOES NOT EXIST!!.. The display went out on my 6 months after i bought.. sent it off to denon.. Took 6 months to get it back.. I called multiple times and could not get an answer.. Went onto the website and filled out the "customer service card" and still no service.. I finally got a body and they said "your unit is in service we will ship it out in a month".. WTF.. It came the next day.. Interesting.. Bottom Line..
Summary: I upgraded to get the best DVD player money could buy (under $1000 of course). One of the reasons I bought this was the ability to play other region DVDs with a little work and that it had HDMI output. I connected the player up to my 43" 1080P LCD and made sure everything was connected and configured correctly. I was amazed to see that on one DVD the THX logo had a green tint to it. Not only that but the faces of people had this as well. It's hardly noticeable.
Summary: Purchased my Denon From ovation.. 1st ones off the truck about 1 1/2 years ago.. THe display went out 2 months later... Sent it in.. Shipped it off.. Was gone for 7+ months. Display was fixed however now the TosLink Audio and 5.1 surround is missing high freqs.. THe tech support is VERY hard to get a hold off. If not existant. DO NOT BUY A DENON IF YOU WANT SUPPORT.. honestly I will never buy a another "denon" product To much hassle..
Summary: I was very disappointed with the audio quality of this player. After reading all the rave reviews, I borrowed one from a friend to try out. How this player was given high marks for CD and SACD audio is hard to understand. With players like the 2910 it's no wonder SACDs are not given the recognition they deserve. This review is for 2 channel audio only. Maybe the 2910 has some surround sound tricks that at this time do not interest me.
