Denon Dvd 1720 Review

Steve Zarczynski, Unbeatable
3 May 2012
  • Excerpt: I have had my Denon DVD-1720 now for a couple of months, having previously owned Toshiba and Samsung players, my girlfriend still uses the Toshiba which is a couple of years old now. I wanted to ditch the Samsung for a while as it refused to play the audio cleanly from some DVDs particularly Star Wars 4,5&6.
  • Pros: Style, Build quality, Picture and Sound.

"Definite improvement over "cheap" players"

Carl, CNET
28 January 2007
  • Summary: Having owned Denon gear before (and having a Grundig TV with SCART inputs) I decided to pick up a DVD1720. I'm no AV expert, but the jump in picture quality, especially in picture sharpness and colour accuracy was obvious straight away over my good but cheap Sharp player. I only run stereo sound and the "virtual surround" mode is actually very effective. If this player was in the lower $200's, it'd be tough to beat.
