Excerpt: There is an old saying that you what what you pay for. My husband paid $29.00 for the Curits 1041 DVD player. It worked well for a short time. We made sure to keep the DVD's clean as we used them but in no time at all we were seeing that familiar message that there was no disc in the Disk drive. We cleaned the DVD's sme more. We blew into the player to dislodge dirt. And still we received the messae that no disc was in the machine.
Excerpt: This DVD player is a great example of ' you get what you pay for'. I have now purchased three of these for several rooms in my house and they are an inexpensive way to have a dvd player in each room. One of the three had to be returned three times until I got a 'good' one that actually worked.. it kept saying 'cannot read disc'. However, once I got one that worked, they seem to be fairly reliable.
Summary: It's a total waste of money. Tech Support sucks BIG TIME. I hardly used it for a month and now it says "No Disk" to all. I called Tech support, instead of helping me, guy suggested to use DVD Lense cleaner, well I did and even to the lense cleaner it reads "NO DISK". In my view CURTIS=JUNK. DO NOT buy Curtis stuff.
Summary: It works, sometimes. Definitely NOT for the DVD Avatar though. Cons, remote control is cheaply made, you cannot use the player without it because there's no power button on front of the player, there's no pinhole to force open the player to take out DVDs in case of failure, and my remote broke so when I went to replace it the remote cost $26 on EBay and amazingly enough the whole unit new here at Amazon is $27!
