Excerpt: I actually received this as a "Free Gift with purchase" from Directv. Within a month the eject button on the dvd player stopped working. I emailed Coby to find out what to do. They told me to contact Directv because of the fact it was a free gift with purchase... I called Directv they told me to call an 800# that was continuously busy. Within 3 months the dvd player stopped reading. I tried Coby again and without a receipt they told me they couldn't do anything.
Excerpt: I have had two of these. Why two you may ask. Well, the first one broke and then the second. As it turned out after much investigation, the players themselves didn't break, but the end of the A/V cord broke off inside the player. No way to get it out without breaking the whole machine. I don't usually like things to break. I have had multiple cheap DVD players now, multiple brands. They all break.
i loved the price but the life on it sucks and breaks down easy

Excerpt: at first i liked the look of it the remote was even cool looking making me feel like i just spent a few hundred bucks and even the price was really nice. I paid 30.00 dollars for it at hastings and after about a week or two i was already having problems with it and it broke down easily and too to quick.
Excerpt: I was given this Coby DVD player as a gift. Let's just say it had problems from day one. It's not worth troubleshooting or getting a replacement because all Coby electronics are cheaply made and are of poor quality. I will never own a Coby product ever again.
Excerpt: Wow. What crap. It worked once and then jump buzzed with loud noise and failed. I couldn't even get a DVD out of it once since it had fallen INTO the unit.. Yes, it popped off the tray and was bouncing around inside the case. I paid barely nothing for it so I just threw it in the trash. Don't buy and COBY brand product if you are looking for any type of quality.
Summary: I had an old Coby DVD 5.1 which died on me and since I had the speakers all I needed was just the DVD player. Every place I went I could not find one to attach all my speakers to. So I went online to the Coby Website and saw exactly what I needed and found it on Amazon. I only had it for a couple of weeks, I have not had any problems with it. Hooking it up was easy, I hate reading instructions. The picture and the sound is perfect and the price was good.
Summary: This DVD player does not work as well as others I have owned, even cheap ones. If has difficulty reading a lot of discs, even some new ones. It sounds like it is self destructing when it opens and closes, time will tell if it is durable or not, but that is not very promising. Also, instructions were pretty minimal, and I cannot find a resume play feature for it to pick up where you left off watching a DVD, unless you leave it on and in the pause mode.
Summary: If you are looking for a good quality compact DVD player that is PAL/NTSC compatible which is Useful for playing British & other foreign programs then this is the unit to buy. This DVD player has a standard remote control that has all the features of the larger units. Also, this unit is built much sturdier then most of the other smaller units on the market today even from Coby who makes this unit.
