Excerpt: Naaaa, naaaa, na naaaah, naa! *boom* *boom, spish, boom* Superbell! Are you challenging me to a dance-off?!?! *Grrrrrr* It’s a dance off folks!!!!! It’s the Thriller, the dance of healing, the juggling fart blast, and my personal favourite, the hat trick complete with Zubo crushing giant cuboid cow,...
Excerpt: What is it? Zubo is a DS exclusive RPG/adventure game from EA. You arrive on Zubalon, a strange planet where the inhabitants, known as the Zubos, are in danger. Your adventure will take you across 10 lands, battling evil Zombos and recruiting up to 55 Zubos along the way.
Excerpt: In any genre of games, there are some entries that appeal to the masses, some that only hardcore fans have the background to enjoy, and some that are intended to bring in new fans. Many times, these last efforts are geared at younger players, and that makes sense.
Summary: If it's one thing I've learnt about reviews, through reading those of others and writing my own, it's that it is easy to write a good review about a bad game and very easy to write a bad review about a good game.
Conclusion: I’ll admit, when I first got the game, my expectations were very low but I’m happy to say Zubo is definitely one of the better titles out there on the DS right now. Trying something different has worked and while the concept sounds a little mad, its fun.
Pros: Good music, Bright colourful graphics, Elite Hero Poke Fantasy! It works!
Cons: Only 55 Zubos?, Not much single player replay value, Story is lacking punch
Excerpt: Zubo is to Elite Beat Agents , what Puzzle Quest is to Bejeweled . The idea of a rhythm-based RPG sounded interesting, but the EA logo on the box made me cautious. However Zubo turned out to be a surprisingly decent game for the intended target demographic – “children with basic reading ability”.
