Yoshi's Island DS is a bit too by-the-book to have the magic of the original, but it's still a good game and easy to recommend to fans of the first game and platformers in general. If you haven't beaten the original, though, start there. Read more
It's getting a bit too negative. Let me finish by saying that Yoshi's Island DS is a thoroughly enjoyable platformer. It's not going to make the same impact as its illustrious predecessor, which amazed gamers by using the SNES' Super FX 2 microchip to create sprite scaling and polygon effects which were advanced for the time, but it's not going to make you bawl like a baby if Santy drops it down the chimney this Christmas either. To round off the whole package, there are also a bunch of unlockables like secret stages that push the game’s difficulty level even further, minigames and a time trial mode. We find that a island suddenly appears floating in the sky, and that babies everywhere have suddenly disappeared. Cue everyone's lovable dinosaur, Yoshi. Gameplay You control Yoshi,... Read more

This game was released in 2006 and is based on an earlier 1995 game "Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island" for SNES. The game focuses on a group of Yoshi who attempt to rescue and protect newborn children from the evil villain and kidnapper Kamek. The newborn children you protect are not just ordinary children though, they are baby versions of Mario, Donkey Kong, Wario, Peach and even Bowser. Each baby gives Yoshi a different ability, for example Mario grants Yoshi extra... Read more
