Summary: I bought this game because I feel in love with the PlayStation version of "Valkyrie profile". But this version is different; in a bad way. The changes or so call "improvements" made it less fun to play. Here are my cons, I hate the fact that you have to play on the bottom screen of the 3DS; I have to look down to play (sorry never own a DS; the 3DS is my first). You don't get the freedom of moving around the map as you please.
Summary: Covenant of the Plume is another one of those tactical RPGs that I just could not get into. I tried. I forced myself to sit down and play it. Ultimately, I just couldn't do it. It's not that the game isn't necessarily put together poorly. It's laid out well, the graphics are decent, there are good tactical gameplay components, and there is a story in place. I just didn't get into it.
Summary: The game play is fair. However, the plot and the dialog suffer from a distinct lack of polish. As a result, I found myself caring very little for the protagonist and Hel's plot to use the protagonist as a tool against Lenneth seemed completely arbitrary. If a decent story is important to you in your games, pass on this game and look at some of the main entries in the Valkyrie Profile franchise.
Square-Enix went cheap on the localization, and the game is not fun

Summary: First of all, the Japanese version included 60 MB of voice data, including extensive voice overs for story events and battles. Square-Enix has removed all voice overs for the story events, and replaced it with NOTHING. They even deleted the original Japanese voices, so no voice overs are available for the story events. All because they didn't want to pay a little extra to record additional lines from the voice actors they had already hired to narrate the battle voices.
Conclusion: im slightly confused by where this game is actually goin and it is very hard to get into. the graphics arent great during the actual parts where u get to play the game. although to be fair to it the story line isnt bad. it seems to be one of those games where it could have been good but they dropped the ball a bit.
Conclusion: When you think Valkyrie Profile, you might think of the original game, which has in recent years been ported to the PSP. But have no doubt in your mind if you go to buy this game - This is NOT that type of game. While the game itself is presentable, the sprites being quite crisp, the occasional animation being a treat to watch, the game itself is literally trying it's hardest to be unplayable.
