List All 2 PricesUm, "Ultimate"? OK, let's see what the word "ultimate" means, according to the dictionary. "Maximum, decisive, conclusive". So, that means this is supposed to be the be-all end-all experience in gaming, right? Well, why doesn't Ultimate Mortal Kombat for the Nintendo DS feel like this? Sure, it's a pretty decent representation in the MK series, but ultimate? Come on. You've got two games to choose from here -- TWO! Read more
Ultimate Mortal Kombat is essentially an online-only title. It doesn't have much in the way of single player modes, or in the way of new content. But for fans of Mortal Kombat, and fans of arcade-style fighters, this one is a sure-win. It has all of the ingredients that made the original games such a success, and has the ability to extend these elements so you can take your game further, without losing all your quarters! Read more
By Kevin "Berserker" Hall Player(s): 1-2 Multiplayer Option(s): single card play, multi-card play, online Wi-Fi play Back in the mid-90's many fighting fans had only one fighting game series on their mind - either Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter, or perhaps both. The MK series' third installment marked the end of its 2-D appearance and ushered in the 3-D style games that we now know. Read more
Ultimate Mortal Kombat is definitely a worthy pickup for any fan of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. The game plays just like the original did, down to the moves being faithfully recreated. The graphics are well done, the online play was a great addition and the game is just a joy to play. The inclusion of Puzzle Kombat is nice, to be sure, but the majority of the fun with this game is going to come from beating your friends or the computer senseless in a regular fight. Read more
If you're not looking for a complex fighting game and want something satisfying that you can get stuck right into and become rather good at quickly, Ultimate Mortal Kombat is a great choice, and it has a fun and functional online mode to boot. However, lack of depth and silly expectations from the AI are what drag it down. Read more
The Mortal Kombat franchise has been around since the SNES/Genesis days. Indeed, it caused quite a scandal upon its first release, part of it revolving around the gruesome nature of the game and part of it revolving around the decision by Nintendo to force Midway to censure it on the SNES version. How times have changed. Now Midway has released its first Mortal Kombat game for the DS, although by no means is it anything original. Read more
power-up bar is at full. Ho hum. It’s a little better when played head-to-head because you can trash talk, though over Wi-Fi Connection that’s lost. Faring much better is a great translation of Mortal Kombat 3 – great animation, big characters, good audio, etc. If it weren’t for the small directional pad of the DS, this would be an awesome arcade translation. In regards to the Nintendo DS version of Ultimate Mortal Kombat, the “ultimate” in the name refers to the shier magnitude of content within a single cartridge as compared to other fighters on the platform. Though many gamers have made the transition to 3D gaming, nothing beats the classic look and feel of the older Mortal Kombat titles. Though outdated, this fighter title will live on in the minds and hearts of countless DS owners around the world. Read more
As multi-platform games go, Spider-Man 3 does a lot of things right, but just doesn’t completely feel comfortable on the PS3 with its sub-par graphics and weighty fighting. It helps that this version of the game was designed for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, rather than being built with the earlier generation’s hardware in mind, but the game still feels hamstrung by having to play to the strengths of two current generation consoles rather than simply embracing the... Ultimate Mortal Kombat DS is one of the best fighters on the DS so far and as such should not be missed. Its has its faults like all games, it’s a little dated and I’m sure I’m not the only one who would of preferred Mortal Kombat Trilogy, which has the bigger character list. Despite this id still highly recommend it if you can find it for £20 or so, it’s a bargain Score 8.8 + Controls work well + Puzzle Kombat is great + Online play - £30 is a bit pricey -... Read more
I just bought this for my son for Christmas and he has a blast playing it evidently he can "link" with other people in the house and at school that have a DS too and play each other. I am quite pleased. I would remember playing this as a child and its even better now. Read more or see product

Ignore the other review talking about Rain and Noob. They were never playable in the arcade. They were in the old 16-bit console versions, but those versions were terrible. This is the arcade version and it has made the transition to DS unchanged. Read more

I used to spend hours on the Amiga, and then later on the Super Nintendo playing Mortal Kombat (MK). Whilst most raved about Street Fighter I always thought that MK was where it was at. The characters were better, there was blood when you hit your opponent and the finishing moves (?fatalities?) were brilliant. Read more
Overall, this is a great game and is as good as I remember, however, it is not really a single player game unless you have the ability to get your DS online and seek out an opponent. The computer controlled character in single player mode is just too tough and it does ruin it somewhat. Looking back, I never played previous versions of MK in single player mode either. It was a game that I always enjoyed with mates. Read more
