  • Conclusion: At the end of the day, Transformers: War for Cybertron is a serviceable entry to both the Nintendo DS library and Transformers franchise. While some tightening up in control would serve well for an inevitable sequel, it’s still the best Transformers experience handheld gamers have right now.

Transformers: War for Cybertron Review

Reviewboard Magazine

  • Conclusion: High Moon has been very good at saying all the right things with War for Cybertron leading up to its arrival in stores, but many licensed titles have talked a great game before falling apart when all was said and done. Thankfully, War for Cybertron impresses with an excellent single-player campaign with full co-op support, the included Horde-alike Escalation mode, and surprisingly deep and inventive online multiplayer component.

Yet another "Robots in Disguise" game, but this one takes place when disguises weren't necessary.

  • Conclusion: Of all the Transformers games available for the Nintendo DS, War for Cybertron definitely isn't the worst of the bunch, and at the very least it's clear that this wasn't done as a quick cash-in. It's got everything you'd want out of a Transformers game – tons of unlockable characters, lots of transforming from robot to vehicle and back again, and one bad-ass final boss. But it's difficult to rationalize sloppy development just to praise good ideas.

Transformers: The War for Cybertron Is Better Than Transformers 2

UGO
23 June 2010
  • Excerpt: Growing up in the '80s was probably one of the best things to ever happen to me. Things like Star Wars , Indiana Jones , decent Star Trek movies, Nintendo, Sega and of course cartoons permeated the consciousness of kids everywhere. And I was smack dab in the middle of it. In retrospect, Optimus Prime was like the greatest babysitter ever.
  • Pros: if you enjoy fighting robots with your friends.
  • Cons: if you despise Stan Bush songs.
