Transformers: Decepticons

The Gamers Temple
10 February 2008
  • Excerpt: After so many years of saving princesses, defeating evil and eating your vegetables, it is no doubt that some gamers desperately want to play the role of a villain for a change. Sure, being a hero is great, but in every hero's heart beats the soul of someone who, just once or twice, doesn't want to do the right thing and save the day. In the immortal words of Lord Helmet, "Evil always triumphs because good is dumb.

Transformers: Decepticons

Auracore MediaWorks
25 September 2007
  • Summary: Transformers on the DS doesn't offer much more then meets the eye.
  • Pros: Sandbox-style gameplay removes the heavy linearity usually present in movie titles; good voicework; loads of vehicles to transform to and from; Allspark Wars is an interesting concept.
  • Cons: Clumsy controls; side-missions have no point or consequence; missions are often frustrating and long; fuzzy graphics; paying twice the price for two storylines is a little much; mission diversity feels a little lacking.

Transformers: Decepticons review (DS)

HonestGamers
22 July 2007
  • Excerpt: Whether you choose to follow the game’s story, which is told through a series of missions, or elect to simply spend the afternoon driving the police nuts by raising and lowering your “wanted” level (a gauge measuring how vigorously the authorities pursue you; smash stuff to raise the level, behave and the cops will leave you alone), there is a lot of sadistic fun to be had with the game.

Transformers Decepticons DS

UncleGamer Radio
21 July 2007
  • Excerpt: I am what you would call a Transformers virgin.  Born too late to catch the fever in the eighties, I never had a Transformer, never saw the first movie, never bothered to care about it as I grew up, and now wonder what all the fuss is about with the new movie that just came out.  So without the clawing hands of nostalgia obscuring my vision from the truth, it is with great certainty that I declare Transformers Decepticons DS a poor game sporting a few neat features that...

Transformers Review (DS)

Yet Another Review Site
28 August 2007
  • Excerpt: More than meets the eye Of all the toys I had when I was a kid, Transformers were the favourite. I had dozens of them. The original Jazz, Starscream, Optimus Prime and more. I really wanted Megatron (the pistol version, not the pants Cybertron Glider or the second generation Tank thing) but alas that was never to be. I had all the comics, issue 1 through the the last issue in the UK. I was a fanatic!
  • Pros: Great online mode. Voice over. It’s Transfomers!
  • Cons: A bit repetitive. Onscreen action can get confused
