Summary: This game is alright at first, but it looses its appeal very quickly! The graphics are horrible and it doesnt really have those same elements like a sims game normally has. If your looking for a game thats the same type of game as castaway, get Lost in blue2. Better graphics, better gameplay and everything.
Summary: Trying to survive on a deserted tropical island... Sounds cool, right? Yeah. That's what I thought, too. But it turns out it's not cool at all. Far from cool. The Sims 2: Castaway was pretty fun at first. (Though I've found that ALL video games are fun the first time you play them.) I played the game for a couple of days and had at least a little bit of fun with it. But soon, as I progressed in the game, it became too hard for me. Ridiculously hard, in fact.
Summary: When I bought it, I looked at it thinking "This seems fun!". It wasn't as great as I thought. There isn't much to do, it's a pain to keep your sim happy, and just overall gameplay sucks. Not a very good storyline, and I wasted about 4-6 hours of my life on it.
Summary: I started playing and got bored on the very first day and that's saying something! I can normally show real interest in a game for at least a day but this got old immediately and I seriously almost fell asleep playing! The days are repetetive and you can never do anything within a real amount of time. Besides that, there are next to no options! You get food. You eat. You walk around. You go to bed.
One of the Most Frustrating Games I've Ever Played

Summary: I too am a big fan of the Sims franchise, and had a blast playing the (highly addictive) Sims 2 for the DS. But I am ready to throw Castaway into the sea. While a cool concept and fun to get started on, it becomes very frustrating very quickly. I spend all my time now hunting one particular kind of fish so I can progress through the game. It's been three days and I still have not caught the stupid fish.
Not worth the price. It's not absolutely awful, just disappointing

Excerpt: I've played the Sims on PC so when this was released for the DS I figured why not? I wasn't disappointed, at least not for quite some time. You wash up on an island with only the clothes you're wearing. The first thing you should do is find food, there are bushes with berries, shellfish on the beach and various fruits dropping from trees. As you explore you will be able to collect rocks, sticks etc to build a decent shelter and other buildings.
Not a bad game, I wouldn't recommend it to those of you who anger easily.

Excerpt: I really wanted a DS Lite for christmas so I went out and splashed a bit of dosh :P I bought a few games with it, Zelda:Phanthom Hourglass, Sims 2 Castaway, Pippa Funnels...something...And My Sims. First I tried out Sim 2, naturally and from almost the first half hour of playing it I got hopelessly lost, stuck and frustrated and ended up leaving it aside for 2 months before trying to tackle it again.
Summary: this game is rubbish 4 the DS but brilliant 4 the PSP. the graphics r better and u can do more things and everything is more realistic. my friend is addicted to it but i just cannot see why i like the PSP version only 2 much more. if u want to take the risk then fine bt on the other games consoles u wil enjoy it lots more.
Conclusion: As previous reviews have said it's a great game until you don't know what to do next. I played this every night for about 2 weeks and then haven't played it since as there was nothing new to do and I got bored of just walking around the island. I'm sure true SIMS fans will love the game but not for me - I like things to be clear!!!
