Summary: This game was an absolute waste of money! The Settlers DS game has a malfunction so that you cannot save your game! You can be playing for a couple of hours, then suddenly the game will stall and you will loose the lot! It's a shame because otherwise it would have been a good game.
Amiga/PC classic - Settlers, now available on the Nintendo DS
29 July 2009
Excerpt: This review is for the Nintendo DS game, The Settlers, developed by Blue Byte and published by Ubisoft. It's a strategy game where you have to look after your islanders, construct buildings and protect them.
Pros: Good games concept
Cons: Too many bugs and control problems, no tutorial mode
Excerpt: I haven't played the PC version of this game, and so my first experience of this game was on the Nintendo DS. There are three ways to play this game, Freeplay, Roman Campaign and World Campaign.
Pros: Lots of maps to play
Cons: Takes a little time to get used to the gameplay
Excerpt: I have a few settlers games on pc, so when I found out that it was available on DS I had to buy it. Unfortunatley it did not live up to the Settlers games on the PC, you do not seem to have as much control and the graphics arn't as good.
Summary: This is a fantastic game that returns to the very roots of 'The Settlers' franchise; maintaining the originals charm and appeal, but with updated and portable gameplay. Excellent game. Highly recomended.
Summary: If you are a fan of the Settlers PC games (as I am) then you will not be disappointed with this game. I have not experienced any of the crashes or problems loading that other gamers have mentioned - just hours of fun game play!
Summary: This game rates as the worst game I've ever posessed in over twenty years of gaming. Anyone expecting a halfways playable game will be sorely disappointed. The menu structure is abysmal, and the graphics are way below what I'd expect.
