Game Freaks 365
18 December 2006
  • Excerpt: Once upon a time, Nintendo got the world hooked on a game they brought from Russia, which was, more or less, blocks falling on top of each other. When I put that game into my huge brick of a game system, known as the Game Boy, for some reason I couldn’t put it down for hours. Colorful descending blocks plagued my dreams for days, and I loved every second of it. Now, just about seventeen years later, I can proudly say not a thing has changed.

  • Excerpt: Did you ever have a friend that you would sit down and play Tetris with and they absolutely sucked at it? No matter what they did, no matter how far they leaned over on the edge of their chair and concentrated, you were still better than them? Well, I was that friend to someone, somewhere. I suck at Tetris . My friends and I play Tetris drunk against each other and even when they’re drunk, I still get totally trounced every single time.

  • Excerpt: Now this is one game where I would readily slap you over the face with a frozen fish if you needed an introduction. We’re talking Tetris here; the one and only; the greatest puzzler of all time. Many of us can still remember experiencing the Russian revolution for the first time on our game boys many a year ago, hypnotised by it’s simply addictive gameplay and insane rhythmic theme music.

  • Excerpt: Tetris DS is a mix of old school fun with a few new additions to spice up a game that is marvelled for its unlimited lasting appeal. Traditionally the concept of stacking blocks on top of one another would hardly seem appealing to todays gamers who thirst for blood loss and war games.

Tetris DS

Portable Review
15 April 2006
  • Excerpt: With countless reiterations available on dozens of different consoles, Tetris is easily one of the most recognizable puzzle games of all time. I’m sure everyone has played a game of Tetris, and that’s partially why creating a new Tetris game is difficult. The original Tetris on the Game Boy seemed like the perfect game, yet it was expanded upon in Tetris DX. After that, there weren’t too many notable Tetris games, as most were just made to make a quick buck.

Tetris DS Review

Strategy Gaming Online
28 March 2006
  • Excerpt: What Nintendo portable system doesn't have a Tetris game made for it? It is hard to believe that, after over 20 years of being in existence, Tetris is still this popular. The simplistic puzzler that originally came out on the PC has become a staple in video games. The simple design of rotating sets of four blocks to make lines was ideal for portable systems - Nintendo picked up on this idea and released the game for the NES and GameBoy...and history was made.
