Summary: I am a fan, so I was willing to put up with a lot more than a casual gamer, but after 2 hours trying to make sense out of this game, I had to give up. It just isn't fun. Regardless of any issues, it's not fun, so why play?
Summary: Pros: --- You are the captain of a Federation star ship --- The federation starships are powerful enough to put up a fight --- There is a diplomacy system Cons: --- The captain literally controls EVERYTHING on the ship, right down to firing phasers. And there is literally no delegation of responsiblities to your crew. This means that you are in control of steering the ship and firing your weapons. So you'd better be good at multitasking.
Summary: The Star Trek franchise makes it's debut on the DS with Tactical Assault, a strategy game that features some interesting elements, but in the end doesn't have enough going for it to truly make it something special. The combat is slow and dull, which is disappointing enough besides the fact that the storyline has less a Star Trek feeling to it. The game boasts about William Shatner's involvement, but you'd hardly know he was here too.
Summary: The fact is there are practically no Star Trek games on the market. So when one is released there is much doubt as to whether it can provide any real satisfaction. Tactical Assault is not what I expected, and it's not really what I wanted in a Star Trek video game. In itself the game isn't terrible. The graphics are acceptable, the gameplay is sufficient (if not simplistic), and the story demands just enough of your attention.
Summary: I'll start by saying that I tend to prefer Star Wars over Star Trek. It's personal preference but thats just me. However, when I saw this game for £2.98 brand new in gamestation, I thought that I would give it a try. It is a stategy based space fighting sim. It is based in Real Time & not turn based so it is pretty action packed for a strategic war game. You will play as the Federation & once you have completed the game you can play as the Klingons.
Pros: Easy to get to grips with. Feels like an action game. Decent Graphics.
Cons: No Single Card or Online Multi Player. Does get a bit samey. None of the famous crew
Excerpt: "Star trek games, much to the dismay of many fans have been typically poor, half hearted attempts. this is the first effort on DS and out-classes most other trek games, but that is not hard to do. However the game is pretty decent and fun to play. First things first, appearance. The game opens with an impressive 3D cut scene whch shows the star ship enterprise (of the captain Kirk days) whizzing though space. then the title pops up and your ready ...
Pros: decent variety of ships, good gameplay and graphics
