Excerpt: Spider-man 3 on the Nintendo DS is one of the worst DS video games the WMG has ever played. Activision does not have a good track record with super hero video games, but they keep churning them out. Someone out there must keep buying them otherwise Family Friendly Gaming would not be telling you to avoid yet another video game. If you have contemplated a purchase of this video game, please read my review first.
Excerpt: While the film certainly didn't bomb, it's fair to say that on release Spider-Man 3 received a somewhat lukewarm reception compared to Peter Parker's previous celluloid adventures. Sadly, most of the console versions of the related games made the cinematic Spidey look like an Oscar winner, so there is some irony to the fact that on the smallest screen of all, the big screen licence has found itself the most suitable home.
Conclusion: This brings me to the gameplay of the Wii version, which is probably what most are concerned about. When info on the Wii version was released, it sounded like a dream come true. I mean, what could not be great about the gameplay, right? After all, you have the Wii-mote, one of the most innovative controllers available on a console system. Add that to everyone's favorite arachnid and you have got yourself the potential of allowing fans of Spidey to live out their dreams.
Summary: Based on the feature film, Spider-Man 3 allows players to experience the actions of heroic red-suited Spider-Man and, for the first time ever, his darker, more mysterious black-suited persona.
Excerpt: Gamer thumbs tingling! Spiderman 3 on Xbox 360 Gamer thumbs tingling???? Having played Spiderman 1 and 2 I have really looked forward to this game. After playing this for an hour I wasn’t disappointed. The visuals are clean and the game has progressed well from Spiderman 2. We have the same comic narration and helpful hints from Bruce Campbell, helpful when coming to grips with the new elements.
Pros: Vast city to play in., Slow mo combos are nice.
Cons: A bit repetitive., Not really that huge a leap forward from Spiderman 2
Excerpt: Return of your “friendly neighbourhood spiderman” The game loosely based on the film, centred around free roaming crime fighting action. The game, like Spiderman 2, is not based entirely on the film though, and has missions involving fighting local gangs and disarming several bombs etc? The plot is very loose and somewhat weak, as it has multiple storylines running at the same time.
Excerpt: Spidey action shoehorned onto the DS…nearlly With great power comes great responsibility. That’s what Peter Parker’s uncle told him. The same can be said of great film licenses. Get it right and you will go down in history, get it wrong and you will fade away (Superman anyone?). When Spiderman 2 came out on the GameCube and PlayStation 2, it was a true revelation. Not only was it a good super hero game (rare at the best of times), it was a superb game in it’s own right.
Pros: Webslinging action in the open city is breathtaking.
Cons: First level may put you off., Controls are very hard to get used to.
