Expert Review

  • Excerpt: The sunrise. It brings with it the promise of a new day. Something about it speaks to the primal in us, something that says "Awake! Awake and LIVE!" The sun climbs into the sky, revealing a blank slate - it says to us "See how my light eventually reaches far enough to touch everything you see. So, too, YOU can reach out and touch the lives of everyone and everything around you." Hope. Expectation. Some days we live up to it, some days we do not.

Review: Spectral Force Genesis (Nintendo DS)

Diehard GameFAN
7 September 2010
  • Summary: When I try to defend games made in Japan nowadays, and how they’re not all in a downhill spiral, Spectral Force Genesis is one of those games that people can hold up as a counterpoint. It’s lazy, uninspired, brings nothing to the table yet takes a lot off of it, plays terribly, and asks for a massive time sink with virtually no discernible reward. I don’t even feel bad for spending five thousand words kicking the crap out of it.

Spectral Force Genesis (DS) - Review

VGChartz
4 June 2010
  • Excerpt: Good war narratives aren’t made of just battle action, but also captivating characters and a good complementary side story wrapped around it (just ask James Cameron…). Spectral Force Genesis aims to be precisely that; a good strategy game which is also heavy on character-centered subplots and twists. To achieve this, the creators at Idea Factory mixed elements of classic RTS, RPG, and turn-based games into the package. It’s a good, solid concept for a game.

Spectral Force Genesis

Game Revolution
20 April 2010
  • Excerpt: Save the world, one decimated country at a time. So... for the first few hours or so, I had NO idea what I was doing. It took some time for me to figure out just what all the little twiddly knobs did (the in-game “tutorial” doesn't really explain much), but after a bit of trial-and-error, I got the hang of it. About the game then: Spectral Force Genesis is, from what I can gather, a mix of RoShamBo and Risk where the whole goal is to bring about world peace...
  • Pros: Interesting ideas of game management, Destroy other countries!, Lack of any real game-, Graphically inapplicable, Moves slower than mow-lasses, Roshambo battles might as well be random

Spectral Force – Genesis

KonsolenFieber
16 November 2010
  • Pros: sieben Nationen, vielerlei Aufgaben, innovatives Spielprinzip
  • Cons: zu wenig Tiefgang, unverständliche Story, unübersichtliche Kämpfe, Steuerung ungenau und etwas zu kompliziert
