Summary: Well, I bought this game on sale at a GameStop and it came out to be a bit of a dissapointment. It just doesn't hold much water as a racing title. The handling is very loosey-goosey, which is fine in a way because it's an arcade racer, but this goes too far. Mario Kart DS is a much better choice and there really isn't a good racer besides that out for the system right now.

Summary: I had high hopes for this game, and had fun for the first 6 races. Then it let me down, all the control options suck, and you can't see ahead on the track to anticipate turns at all. I'm selling this and going back to Ridge Racer R4 for the original playstation, this game NEEDS a good analog stick to play properly.
Fast paced driving game for the Nintendo DS - Ridge Racer
29 July 2009
Excerpt: This review is for the Nintendo DS game, Ridge Racer, developed by Nintendo and published by Namco. Ridge Racer is a fast paced driving game, based on a port from the N64 version of the game. There are a total of thirty-two cars to drive and twenty different tracks. You will likely start by playing the grand prix mode, which allows you to play through all of the different tracks, competing against eleven other cars.
Pros: Excellent multi player function, challenging
Cons: Collision detection poor in places, feels quite dated now
Excerpt: **Ridge Racer DS Game Descriptions says.... Race into action with Ridge Racer for the Nintendo DS. From the series you know and love, Ridge Racer for the Nintendo DS offers a whole new experience to racing fans with true analog steering through the Nintendo DS touch screen, up to 6-player multiplayer races, various exciting single-player racing modes and more.
Excerpt: Ridge Racer DS was one of the first racers on the DS. It comprises the same elements as your bog standard racer, some may not enjoy this as they can't use weapons or nitrous etc. But it is still a good game; you race very quickly with a very good frame rate, and the AI can sometimes be pretty hard to beat. With clever, mapped out winding courses, going up and downhill you have to be tactical about speed changes and racing line, making this yet more enjoyable.
Pros: Fast, Addictive, Good use of touch screen
Cons: Poor Graphics, Lack of unlockables, Bad difficulty settings
Excerpt: Ridge racer is good, it is such an easy game to play even as a beginner. The race has a drift path, so you just have to control the drift and the game will carry it around. The graphics are good and the scenery is quite real just doing a slow lap will enable you to be able to see the scenery with detail, but only close up. The game is great with a good selection of cars and tracks.
Excerpt: This review refers to the American version of Ridge Racer DS ***Packaging*** Well it is the same as any other Nintendo DS game. The box is sturdy with the protective cover over the inlay cover. The actual detail on the cover is lacking. It does not have the standard multiplayer compatibility icon. However it does have the equivalent in writing. There are two screenshots of the game on the back of the cover along with the usual legal information and a very short blurb.
Pros: Simple game play, Good instructions, Child friendly
Cons: Bad Graphics, Little development, Bad handling, Overpriced
