Retro Game Challenge

Family Friendly Gaming
2 February 2013
  • Excerpt: Retro Game Challenge has been on our purchase list for quite some time now. It finally came down in price enough, and we scraped together the funds to purchase it. I am very glad we did. This Nintendo DS game is a trip through memory lane thanks to clones of well known games. There are also some interesting twists on some of our favorites from the past.

Retro Game Challenge

Nintendo World Report
10 March 2010
  • Summary: Relive the good, the bad, and the downright awful with this nostalgic collection.
  • Pros: Each game feels genuine, In-game magazines are fun to read and offer tips 'n' tricks for each game, Star Prince, Guadia Quest, and RNHM3 are the best
  • Cons: Challenges are doled out poorly, Rally King SP and, to a lesser extent, RNHM2 are the worst, Young Arino is the bane of my existence

Classic Games For a Solid Dose of Nostalgia

Game Informer
22 September 2009
  • Conclusion: Concept: Play a bunch of retro-inspired games while meeting specific challenges Graphics: Chunky, blocky, and primitive. In other words, perfect for the game Sound: Just like the graphics, they're dated, from the funky songs to the ?era-appropriate effects Playability: You'll look forward to unlocking free play on some of the games, they're so good Entertainment: Adding specific tasks pumps even more life into the already addicting action Replay: Moderate

Review: Retro Game Challenge

The 8th Circuit
12 May 2009
  • Excerpt: When one hears the words Retro Game Challenge , one of the first images that comes to mind are those cheesy compilations companies have pumped out low-quality titles for years now. In fact, the company behind this release, Namco Bandai, is one of the worst for their constant releases of Ridge Racer , Pacman , and Mappy .

Retro Game Challenge

playmagazine
8 May 2009
  • Excerpt: Shinya Arino--one of the two members of Japanese comedy duo Yoiko--hosts a late-night TV show in Japan called GameCenter CX. GCCX is a celebration of video gaming, but more specifically, it is a celebration of the days gone by of video gaming. Arino himself is a huge game fan, and every episode--at least, for every episode I myself have personally seen--he helps bring us a look back at gaming's golden days, from what titles were released by a particular company back in...

Retro Game Challenge game review

Boys' Life magazine
24 March 2009
  • Excerpt: Live all the glory of the Golden Age of video games with Retro Game Challenge. There were tons of arcade games and home consoles everywhere back in the 1980s, and not just the Nintendo Entertainment System and Atari. Your parents might remember the hoopla around classic games like Pong, Space Invaders and Pac-Man. Retro Game Challenge isn’t just game playing; it’s a complete experience.

Expert Review

Game Informer
24 March 2009
  • Summary: Retro Game Challenge finds you sprawled out in front of the TV popping in one cartridge after another to challenge high scores. You've been sent into the past by a game player disillusioned with modern titles, and only by meeting his challenges can you return home. Each of the short, old school games are clearly modeled after old favorites, and constant in-jokes serve as reminders of a childhood spent in front of early interactive gems.
