Review: Puzzle Kingdoms (Nintendo DS)

Diehard GameFAN
5 July 2009
  • Summary: Judging this game purely by its cover, most would dismiss it as just another meager attempt at cashing in on the popularity of Puzzle Quest . But there’s actually some fun gameplay and fairly deep strategy underneath the unseemly graphics and steep learning curve. It’s hindered by some small bugs that should never have made it past QA, but none of them are gamebreaking.

Puzzle Kingdoms Review

GameSpot
24 June 2009
  • Excerpt: Developer Infinite Interactive struck gold with the debut of Puzzle Quest, blending a popular puzzle game and traditional role-playing mechanics into one addictive package. Puzzle Kingdoms uses the same hybrid formula as its predecessor, but changes to the underlying puzzle game and battle system make for a slower, more strategic experience. It's not as accessible as Puzzle Quest and doesn't look as pretty, but it's fun and engaging regardless.
  • Pros: Solid puzzle mechanics, Intricate battle system
  • Cons: Ugly, generic art design

Puzzle Kingdoms

Digital Chumps

  • Conclusion: Puzzle Kingdoms did a great job of surprising me out of nowhere with yet another great title from Infinite Interactive. Though the production values seemed a little rushed at times, the core gameplay was there and the variations were enough to keep me playing. Still, the DS is the ideal system to play the game on since you can bring it anywhere and play in the short spurts that it's meant to be played in.

Puzzle Kingdoms (DS)

The Review Busters

  • Conclusion: For a game that brags about being like Puzzle Quest you will start to wonder if the asking price is trying to tell you something. I have been on a puzzle kick lately with my Nintendo DS so I thought spending $20 on a game like this would be a swell idea. It turns out Puzzle Kingdoms is no more than a budget game that will continue to drop in price until the entire stock is either in customers hands or companies will toss it in the desert with all of the other bad games...

Puzzle Kingdoms: Strategisches Fantasy-Rollenspielpuzzle

Spieletipps.de
2 July 2009
