Summary: Is the game amazing? No. Is it deep? No. Is it addicting? Kinda. Is it mindless? A bit. Is it redundant? Oh yeah. Is this all bad? Not if you want a laid back, dungeon crawl with plenty of random drops to collect. If you like the gaming formula of Diablo and Diablo II, You'll probably like this. The game play is set up different, but fundamentally the same core feel. It's also a lot like the game "Phantasy Star Online" for the dreamcast back in the day.
Summary: This game is incredibly fun and has a lot of content. However the PSP game based on the phantasy star universe series is a superior title from what I have played. (The PSP game is much better than the PS2 game so if you played Universe and did not like it give it a chance.) Main issues I have with it are simply that the DS's inferior hardware is shown in the content. But the developers did a fantastic job of using what they had.
Summary: I had never played the previous PSO incarnations, but I was curious about this game. It's ridiculously fun and addictive, and has kept me entertained for WAY too many hours. Unlike other RPGs, this is definitely NOT a story-based game. The single-player mode is pretty much an excuse to level your character. The real fun is the online mode, where you team up with other players (via friend code or random matches) to complete missions.
Summary: It's a fun diversion, and the online multiplayer is addictive, but it does get a bit repetitive in solo mode. There's lots of options for customizing your character and weapons. The story is shallow and asinine, but the story isn't really the point of a game like this. Get this if you're into online multiplayer; otherwise, it's not really for you.
Summary: I was pleasantly surprised! I got it due to wanting something for the DS that was online and somewhat large in scope--what I got was a great single-player story as well! The frequent use of short anime sequences goes a long way in conveying an interesting story, and like any game with character customization, the replay is through the roof.
Summary: I will put it nice and simple. Phantasy Star 0 is the true spiritual successor to the original Phantasy Star Online (hereafter known as PSO) that debuted on the Dreamcast and later ported over to the Gamecube, Xbox consoles and the PC version Blue Burst. If you were a fan of PSO, this game will draw you back into those wonderful memories of grinding away hours upon hours of leveling up, finding loot and having fun with your friends.
