Summary: Maybe it was just me but I was expecting something.... better. I didn't like the character models or the game play. I just gave it away to my brother. In short I wasted my money. I quit just after the tutorial mission. Knowing what I know now I wouldn't get this used either.
Summary: I love Phantasy Star Online, and I really wanted to love this game, but I can't get past the terrible camera and controls. The reliance on L for camera control is painful after 10-15 minutes (for adult hands). The target locking works very poorly. The limited viewing space means that you will repeatedly have monsters shooting at you from off screen, and trying to shoot back means shooting at an enemy you can't see.
Summary: This is the weakest game in the Phantasy Star series since moving to 3D. I can't tell you how many hundreds of hours I spent on the Dreamcast, Gamecube, Xbox and PSP playing games in this series, and this one is plainly the worst of all of them. 1) No analog stick makes the character hard to control. Sega should have realized this and gone for a straight 2D, top down interface. 2) You can't move while the menu is open on the lower screen.
