New Super Mario will woo old and new fans.

Common Sense Media
10 February 2014
  • Summary: Parents need to know that the main game doesn't take advantage of the Nintendo DS's touch screen or its microphone, but the 18 Mini games do. Several of the levels are challenging, so parents might want to encourage their kids to carefully plan how to get through all the obstacles. Parents should also note that Mario's modus operandi is to stomp on most enemies, but sometimes he must use other tricks, including throwing fireballs.

New Super MARIO BROS.

Family Friendly Gaming
2 February 2013
  • Excerpt: Twenty years ago Nintendo released Super MARIO BROS. This legendary game flew off of store shelves, and started a revolution in the video game industry. Mario has gone through quite a few changes since that time, and this game reflects many of those changes. The New Super MARIO BROS. on the Nintendo DS takes the original, and completely re-tools it for today's gaming standards.

But our princess is in another castle! That’s it, no more, no less. New Super Mario Bros. (DS) Review

411mania.com
28 March 2007
  • Summary: Whether your first Mario adventure or just the latest, this is a must have game for the Nintendo DS. Classic Mario action has been revived and done so nearly flawlessly. Outside of a few small personal preference issues (I would have loved to have seen the raccoon suit included) this is as perfect as they come. Bundled with multiplayer options as well as a large selection of mini-games ensure NSMB will spend more time in the DS than in the box.

Expert Review

RewiredMind.com
6 January 2007
  • Excerpt: Any gamer worth their salt recalls the time that they first played Super Mario Bros. 3 , or indeed, Super Mario World . Despite this, the handheld formats have only seen rehashes and re-releases of those classic NES and SNES titles. New Super Mario Bros. is exactly what we were waiting for. A new version of a classic gaming franchise. I’ve avoided all coverage of this game so far. I wanted to be surprised.

New Super Mario Bros

ME Gamers
6 August 2006
  • Excerpt: First Impressions My reaction is Ever since the original NES, at least one platformer featuring the Italian plumber has accompanied each of Nintendo’s consoles. I was but a wee gamer when the original Super Mario Bros was released. I remember that I was too scared to fight Bowser and my dad had to finish it for me. I’m a little older now and I figured that I could handle the Mario’s latest game on the DS.
